5 years ago gold was around $600, and is now around $1800 (tripled).

5 years ago silver was around $13, and now it's around $39 (tripled).

That is all...

And if you bought gold in 1980, my friend?

How long did it take for your investment to pay off?

V_RocKs 08-18-2011 09:28 PM

Could have done the same with Gillette, Ford, etc stocks...

Btw here is some scams and frauds with gold:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gold_as...ams_and_frauds

For example, read this:

Quote:

Cash for gold - With the rise in the value of gold due to the financial crisis of 2007-2010, there has been a surge in companies that will buy personal gold in exchange for cash, or sell investments in gold bullion and coins. Several of these have prolific marketing plans and high value spokesmen, such as prior vice presidents. Many of these companies are under investigation for a variety of securities fraud claims, as well as laundering money for terrorist organizations.[67][68][69][70] Also given that ownership is often not verified, many companies are considered to be receiving stolen property, and multiple laws are under consideration on methods to curtail this.[71][72]

30 years! If you bought gold in 1980 and still have it, you're up the same amount as you would have been if you had bought it 5 years ago, 300%. During that time, 30 years, the S&P 500 went up 2100%. Gold is a good hedge right now against the dollar, but has been a not so good long term investment. Certainly, it beats 0.05% interest in a bank.

Gold is a bubble. That doesn't mean there isn't money to be made while it inflates. Gold will hit 2000 and beyond. Just don't be the last one out when the bubble pops. Sounds like a piece of cake huh? Try it :winkwink:

7,000 metric tons of gold bullion at the ny reserve.. ($335 billion as of April 2011), more than Fort Knox.

They say that if our reserves were to equal the USD that gold value would need to be at $2800-3000 per troy ounce.. So people are for sure getting scammed on the current gold market.. But then again what else are they going to invest in.. Beanie Babies??

Lykos 08-19-2011 07:00 AM

I love gold :)
