SEO expert/company recommendations?

I am considering using the services of a so-called SEO "expert" or company to make recommendations on site improvements, and to conduct a broader SEO campaign, if they recommend it. Everybody and his brother seems to proclaim himself to be an SEO expert, and sadly so many use abusive, and I think useless tactics such as email and comment spam to try and generate clicks and build links/boost rankings.

So ... If you have any recommendations of someone that I should contact who you believe IS an expert, or at least damn good, and from whom you have seen proven results? Also, is there anyone that you recommend that I avoid?

Yes, avoid ALL of them.

Here is what you need to do.

Use TITLE, KEYWORD and DESCRIPTION Meta tags, but use them properly. Don't stuff these with too much data, and whatever data you do us, keep it relevant. Don't use SHOES in your words if you sell BUTTER.

The TITLE of your page should be the TITLE of your page. If your site sells shoes, your title should be SHOES | We've got amazing shoes!

The KEYWORDS of your site should be words relevant to your site and to the title as well. If you sell shoes, your keywords should be words like Running Shoes, Adidas, Nike, etc.

The DESCRIPTION of your site must be a plain-english description of your site, written to be easily read by a HUMAN. "Click here to visit our incredible shoe site!" The description will appear right below your Title on Google. If you try to stuff it with keywords like "Shoes Shoes Shoes Shoes", humans will know its bullshit, and then click on someone elses link, even if yours appears higher on the page (which it probably won't if you do tricks like this)

Use the H1 and H2 tags to define the Headers of your site. If your site is about SHOES then H1 might be "We have great shoes!" followed by <h2>Nike Shoes</h2> and then later on, <h2>Adidas Shoes</h2> etc.

Use the ALT tag to describe your images. img src = "myimage.jpg" alt = "Cool new Shoes by Nike" for example.

There are other tags you can use as well but not all of them have as much relevance as the tags above. Some outdated ones may be ignored completely.

There are lots of places to get info like this but the best is Google itself. Google has a huge section on how to make pages that will be properly indexed by Google, and their rules apply for the other search engines as well such as Bing.

The SEO rules are fairly simple to learn. Take the time to do this yourself and you'll save alot of money and even get better results.

Well i can do it but problem is,i dont want take money upfront since this is operation which relies on third party so it cannot be 100% guaranteed to accomplish it.So i could take money after results are delivered, but then problem is how i could left without any payment then. For example one webmaster promised me several thousand dollars if i help him with his ranking problems,so i did and he got rankings, and now he ignores my messages about payment. So i need to figure out how to make this work without offering any service yet.

Yep - what Mark said is general but spot on.

I would diverge with him on the importance of the "alt" tag versus the "title" tag (though I'd use both), but otherwise it's true.

SEO is simple and straightforward work; you shouldn't have to spend thousands to get a guru to blow you some smoke. Organic work is best, long term; if you can't do it due to time or knowledge, hit me up and I can refer you some simple and straightforward optimization craft work.

:D

If i optimized a site which is on page 1 when looking after live sex, does it count, does this makes me a SEO expert?

in addition to what mark said above, try to optimize your site for long-tail "buying" keywords (like, say: "cheap online camsex" instead of just "camgirls").

The irony is,ranking somewhere first doesn't necessary make you seo expert, sometime is just pure luck or award from google because you produce good content.

Mark and MediaGuy hit it pretty spot on, but you're more than welcome to leave me an ICQ and I'd look over your site. Not looking to do an SEO campaign or make money, but I'll expand a bit on what Mark said and point you in the right direction.

Edit: Make money from the TS. I'm in a generous mood tonight.

That auto-load audio with no way to mute it surely has to be one of the biggest no no's of web design, period. At least, that is one of the things I've been taught and believe. Such an event ALWAYS causes me to immediately close the page and move on. However .... I appreciate the recommendation, and I will take a look at them in spite of the annoyance.

It's not an audio, but rather a video. I just clicked on it and it stopped.Scroll down.
I hope that helps you. Despite that, I have used them for some of my projects. They are not the cheapest you will find, but for sure the most professional. I vouch for them.
Where else will you find a company that will ask for payment after your keyword is on first page of Google? I stay away from monthly payment scammers.
Good luck with your project.

How many times have I been screwed over since 2002? The list is very long.
Webmaster that after we got their websites ranked they refused to pay, the most popular way is ignoring our emails and blocking us in Icq, or some even had the balls to say that they owed us nothing. The funny thing is, they're all webmasters that we did work for them on mainstream websites and only 1 from the US.

This is true for ONSITE SEO only, which counts to only 10% of the SEO. If that was se easy everyone would have been on first page. The hardest work is off page. It is a tedious job. And you need to know how to do it, to be able to rank high for high competitive keywords. Think about it, if it was so easy, how come very few really rank high for hard keywords to rank? Adult has some nasty competition.
