I agree with you about Chavez buying protection from Russia, China and other countries. I would even add that Chavez is being putting the Venezuelans money in other countries to buy protection and get more power. I lived in venezuela during 2006-2007 for 8 months and here is the verifiable truth-
1)the current govt is a legally elected social democracy. This has been documented by other countries in all cases.
2)people pro or con regarding chavez speak their minds freely in public and demonstrate as freely as they do in any other country.
3)during my time there i asked alot of people about chavez and got a 60% pro and 40% against, so MOST venezuelans will tell you differently.

Once again, I never said anything about paid off canadians. Maybe the word "fixed" sounded kinda like "rigged". What I meant is that the Electoral Council conveniently arranged the elections to favor PSUV (Chavez's party). Read the articles I posted. You may not like the source but when you see the number of votes Chavez got, the number of votes the opposition got and the actual outcome of the elections in congress, it makes you think.

I tend not to get in political discussions anymore. It's been 12 years of constant political bullshit and it's worn me out. I've been tear gassed, been thrown stones at, shot rubber bullets and shot actual bullets at (in april 2002) and I'm just at a stage where I don't feel like discussing politics anymore.
