RevShare Rebilling Questions
question:
1. Some programs rebill the customers every 30 days like clockwork. If they joined on the 3rd of the month, the rebill will be on the 3rd. 2. Other programs seems to set a seemingly arbitrary date sometime past the 30 days mark to rebill. example - one nats program I send traffic to may rebill a 3 day trial after 5 days, and a 30 day membership may rebill at 32, 33, 34, or 35 days another new program that I'm trying out (and the real reason for my question) : member joined apr 16th on a 30 day recurring membership (no trial before full join -just a straight signup for a recurring 30 day membership). NATS says the account is active and expires on May 23rd. Why do programs do this?

I'm not sure I know the answer to your question but since it made it's way half way down the main page without a reply, I'll take a stab at it. Regarding the 4/16 vs 5/23 transaction, my GUESS is that they will attempt to rebill the customer on 5/16 but in case the rebill does not go thru, they will continue to try to get it to go thru for a week before they actually close the subscription. That would be a good thing for you. If they just cancel the membership on the official day of the rebill that doesn't go thru, then the ability to make money on that customer, for you, is pretty much done.
Again, not positive that that is the right answer but that's my best guess.

Maybe misunderstand what you're saying but could it be that May 5th is not exactly 30 days from April 5th?

A lot of programs set the customer to expire after the true expire date so they can retry the members card if it declines.
Example: The rebill comes up on a Thursday the 9th, the customer declines for NSF. The billing company will try again 4 days later on Monday, the 13th and see if it has funds. This is a common practice for several gateways. |
