So, has anybody been on a slut walk yet?

Apparently the San Fran one is going to be mid June. I have been talking to the people planning it. Our industry, especially feels as if it should be involved.

What is that?
Some Canadian cop (mountie?) said a rape victim brought it upon herself for dressing like a slut, or something to that nature. Now people are protesting by marching in "slut walks" in which some dress "slutty", some don't, but with the same goal in mind.

What if one of the women gets raped, does that make the cop right?

It would be terrible I know but wasn't he just trying to prevent rape, that is his job.

Have you considered the possibility that the officer's comments were not intended to assign fault but to prevent rape.

Perhaps he was not intending to offend people by calling girls sluts but rather used an incorrect term for individuals that dress in sexually provocative attire?

Prostitutes dress in a sexually provocative manner in an attempt to arouse potential customers.

Based on this one could extrapolate the hypothesis that sexually provocative ["slutty" in his vernacular] clothing stimulates men. So such clothing could potentially sexually stimulate a rapist and thereby potentially increasing the risk of an attack.

Where does the assignment of blame or fault come in?

Maybe he communicated his feelings incorrectly and this whole "movement" is just a bunch of sluts and attention whores parading around with no real cause.

Anyway, most of the females posted above don't look like they have much to worry about.

marches and political theatre of that type dont accomplish all that much.

but I'd support it if it happened anywhere near me. I wouldn't do the theatre, but I'd give them money, or the equivalent of money.

he blames the victim for the crime (and he is a policeman? )

It was the banks fault it got robbed - it had all that money...

It isn't blaming a victim it is a warning of the perils of reality in our evolving yet still imperfect society where savages remain.

Blinding yourself in a politically correct bubble does not prevent the dangers that this policeman was warning of.

he raped her? you should report your facts to the police and the court if you have further information

unless of course, you're just speculating and mostly upset that the old ass judge would say something stupid

it's not like the streets are safe for everyone.. but i see the value and purpose of a bunch of women dressing like sluts to protest a 'he said she said' ruling

makes sense.

“You know, I think we’re beating around the bush here,” the officer said, according to Hoffman. “I’ve been told I’m not supposed to say this, however, women should avoid dressing like sluts in order not to be victimized.”

“I made a comment which was poorly thought out and did not reflect the commitment of the Toronto Police Service to the victims of sexual assaults,” Const. Michael Sanguinetti wrote on Thursday to Osgoode Hall Law School where he made the comment.

Why don't we let our daughters, nieces, kids dress like sluts? So people don't get the wrong idea about them. Works for adults too.

I'm all for sexy dressing, but the argument is making the cop into the villain more than the rapist here...

It's the same as arguing that women should not be told to avoid walking in dark alleys in the ghetto at night. Sure, they should have the right to, nobody should make it against the law, but it's not very safe is it? Not very safe for men either.

I find it slightly ignorant that people can not see the reality that sexually provocative clothing causes excitement in the other sex. This excitement could lead to action.

In order to reduce risk of rape, don't dress like a slut. You could be seen as a target and get some surprise dick.

You sir are a complete and utter moron. Rape is a hate crime, not a sex crime. Rape rates in countries where women are dressed the OPPOSITE of provocative in head to toe robes, burkas, veils, etc. are much higher... so how are they dressed? Slutty?

People like you perpetuate the worst stereotype of all - that some women "deserve" it. Go get a clue. Hopefully you have to look so far and wide that this industry never has to hear from your sorry ass ever again.

Women wear miniskirts for easy access to the goods, everyone knows that. Just look at porn: You see some slut walking down the street, roll up in your bus and wave a few twenties. Thirty seconds later she is gagging on your cock.

I'm all for sluts, why are you so mad?

of course its not right and of course it shouldn't be like that but reality is, in some cases dress is a factor. i don't think anyone is saying someone who dresses that way deserves it or that its the main factor, just that it can be and has been a factor in a certain % of rape/sexual assault cases.

LOL at this thread, coming from a forum that prefers to call females bitches rather than women.

Who the fuck cares whose FAULT it is? Does laying the blame on the fuckwad who did the raping make it all better? Laying blame where it belongs doesn't make the woman any less raped.

If a person is stupid for walking through a questionable area and getting robbed, why would it be any different for someone wanting to avoid being raped? You do what is necessary to protect yourself instead of marching in a worthless parade that will produce zero results. Eesh...

I'm not mad. Disgusted, yes, mad no. I am all for sluts too and love admitting to my own inner slut. I just don't think anyone "deserves" to be raped and find sarcasm about it to be just plain insensitive... and uncalled for... even in a place called GFY.

We got off topic. What I was originally pointing out was that even though it may not be fair or right, people react what they see.

While not foolproof, there may be some merit to not dressing in a sexually provocative manner to avoid sexual harassment or rape.

A person does not "deserve" to be raped because she or he dresses a certain way, or acts a certain way, or anything else. The perception people have that is the case is why so many rapists get off scot free. It is just plain fucked up. You wouldn't say it is ok to steal from someone just because he has money and you "deserve" it more than he "deserves" it. It is never ok to take sex from someone without his or her consent. Never.

I seriously can't believe I have to explain this.

Until you actually know someone that has been raped you unfortunately probably will never understand.

Nobody deserves crime, as stated above it is often prudent to act defensively. This is no different than defensive driving.
