Same was true in 1992 when I was on BBS' and downloading free pics at 1200 baud and there was even software available freely. Cracking copy protection was all the rage among gamers and cheapskates. There'll always be someone out there wanting to shove a product in his pocket instead of paying for it.

My first modem was a 300 baud acoustic coupler, going to 1200bps was great, but at 2400bps when I bought my first 2400baud modem (which cost $350) I thought, how can it get much faster than this ? heh, how times have changed. Australians are expecting fibre to the home soon, its already starting to be rolled out.

A very large part of this industry relies on getting someone to sign up for 30 days recurring. Yet fewer and fewer customers are willing to do that. So they don't buy anything.

75% of my traffic is going to amateur hardcore sites and they still sell like cakes. The content is not widespread and is NOT on the tubes and on torrents as the sites are smallones. But to make some cash (I speak of a couple of 1000 $) you need to have lots of traffic. My sales in March 2010 were slightly better than in Feb 2011 (in March we had 3 extra days). And the last 2 weeks of March were terrible! Conclusion: it is very tough but paysites are not dead yet. I can imagine for a newbie webmaster it is almost impossible to start now unless it is an additional income on top of your job. You have to search for small sites who're not over exposured and which are not on the tubes and on the torrents. If you target the traffic, you will make sales. When I see a newbie's site, he's promoting the big ones and in my opinion that is completely wrong! I see it for myself. 75% of my traffic to amateur hardcore websites brings in about 99% of my sales...

1000's of sites with non-recurring options on them, and a recurring option with it, it's not like one option wins so well that you remove the other, if anything value of join wise you drop the non-recurring - and it's not like your ratios drop because you do this.

People without question know how to stop recurring billing if they don't want it.

And recurring billing is used in every modern Company in the world... it's standard for almost everything you do in life, so people aren't really afraid of it.

thats about all u need to know.

it should be a sign to the big programs to start taking piracy seriously. the small guys are doing better these days than the brograms as long as they are getting traffic. if they aren't getting traffic, then the problem is marketing not piracy.
