Having more years than most of you I was an organizer of the antiVietnam war protests in 1969. I am and was opposed to war as a means of economic expansion and political control. I have been opposed to this Iraq adventure also.
But I happened to see an interesting hour on the History Channel "Saddam's Bombmaker" it was about the man who headed Saddams nuclear weapons program until he fled the country in 1994. His comments sent a chill down my spine. The essence is Saddam wants the bomb, was close to having the bomb before Israel destrroyed his reactor in 1987 and would have used the bomb against Iran in their war. The chilling part is that Saddam will or does already have a weapon and will use it if he gets one. This message makes me wonder is the Bushies know something we do not. Sometimes a prememptive war is not a bad thing when it can save millions of deaths. Just something to ponder. |
there is a logical explonation in everything :2 cents:
even the name of this thread is logicly not logic :) |
Another reason why Bush NEEDS this war is to distract the
attention away from your other big friend Osama Bin Laden. The SUPERPOWER you like to call yourselfs have NOT been able to track down 1 guy on camel. With all your fancy stuff, with all your super intelligence you have failed to find a guy that is hiding in a third world country. So let´s hunt old friend Saddam. The guy who made you look like fools after the gulf war by just playing with you. The oil is very convenient aswell....together with the geographic location. The US somehow thinks that they can set the rules for the rest of the world....country X cannot have weapons of X type....but the US can.....country y cannot do invade country z but the US can. And why can the US.....because they consider themselfes the saviour of the world......I hate to point out that there are countries and people who dissagree on this point. A good lesson that History has taught the world is that EVERY emperium will fall....Byzantium, Egyption, Roman, Greek, German, British, Russian, etc, etc......who´s next? The US is so arrogant...yeah we walk in and blow them away... blah, blah....yes you have better weapons, yes you have more money, yes you have everything better EXCEPT MORAL. You are fighting against people who have NOTHING to lose and who don´t give a rats ass if they´re going to get killed or not. These people are kinda hard to fight....just look at terrorism. Try to get a US soldier crazy enough to fly a jumbojet full of innocent people into a building which is also full of innocent people and children.....I think you´ll have a hard time finding a guy who will do it..... In the countries you´re trying to fight.....they´re waiting in line to do the job. I´m not anti US...as most of you will start bashing I´m not an America hater....I´m just trying to point out that once again you underestimate your opponent and once again you think the whole world is waiting for you guys to step in and take over. You have a hard time believing why annyone could possible not agree with your "good" intentions. Reality Check: Not everybody loves you....and some of those who don´t have a damn good reason for it. Now let the flaming begin :winkwink: DynaMite |

Who knows; http://www.yellowtimes.org/article.php?sid=889 I don't know, not many do.... This could be like that... 'Iraqi took baby incubators and left the babies on the ground to die' magnificent work of fiction just b4 the last gulf war. The main witness being a Kuwaiti Ambassadors daughter(I think, some relative) who later admitted she lied completely to congress/senate committee or whatever it was to 'trick' the US/UK public into supporting the war. ...Or it might not :) FlyingIguana: What weapons ? ten years of sanctions, constant US/UK bombing. If there are weapons, what the fuck was the point ? Don't get me wrong. IMHO Hussein should go. Assassination, exile, whatever, but this is about control of the Oil, nothing less, nothing more. |
well Saddam did use chemical weapons against Iran. What did the US do? reinstate diplomatic relations :)

You obviously have your mind made up and all the truth, facts and wisdom isn't going to make you realize the threat we are under if we don't. It is an awesome - huge, 10 times your wildest dreams - a single match can burn 1000 acres. |

All that name calling belongs on a grade school playground (or amoung a bunch of liberal democrats) At least try something original - Canada already wore out "moron". It IS refreshing to see aside for the name calling all the original ideas YOIU have to solve the problem. AND what IF he does have UN approval - who are you going to call names then? |

You forget - we didn't have to single out ot "get" Hitler to win WW2 did we? You watch too much TV news. WE set rules - whatever - after Sept.11 - yeah - we're going to set some new rules - ABOUT TIME!! Making everyone like us not out obsession - about 2/3 of the world does - the other 1/3...... maybe aren't really concerned about the rest of the world. |
