Study indicates internet users dislike MOBILE ADS

Due to the "private" nature of personal mobile devices, advertising isn't very welcome on this platform. However... I see the opposite being true for adult advertising.

With mobile advertising on the upswing, marketers must remember that many consumers are still less than thrilled about ads on this very personal device. Catering to their preferences for ad formats and features could help the mobile audience warm up to the usefulness of the channel.

According to a survey from Yahoo! and The Nielsen Company, being informative was the most important quality of mobile ads for a wide variety of products and services. Relevancy was a relatively close second in most categories.

adult mobile ads can stand to be more 'informative', relatively speaking (how much info is there to promote in porn after all ). just because an ad fits in a mobile browser does not make it attractive to someone who is browsing thru mobile adult sites.

due to the limitations of mobile, you almost NEED ads to offer something thats striking and jumps out at the surfer. yet, with all of the ads i've run on my network, at least half of them had to be created or tweaked by me by hand to make them click worthy. several programs have slapped together their sites and offered half assed ads, or sometimes no ads at ALL, expecting it to sell.

Heck, I complain to CBS because if you ever watch clips on there, they jam 30 second tv spots as ads before the clips (like EVERY clip too). Totally ditzy and at least twice too long for a non-tv ad spot. 10 to 15 seconds is tops imho, or 5 seconds if you also brand/watermark the clip.

I always find polls untrustworthy when it comes to marketing/advertising. How much can you trust what someone SAYS about their preferences in this area? It's all about user behavior and you can gleam that from analytics to get a more accurate data set. What I find fascinating is the difference between how a site user responds to a poll and how they actually interact with the content they are being polled about. Generally what they think they do and what they actually do show a variance.

In my experience with mobile advertising (just over the past year)... the CTR is much higher, the conversation rate is much higher, and several other KPI's are drastically different as compared to the same content on a non-mobile platform.

Relevant ads are important. A person wants the correct ads for his/her age, interests and hobbies. Highly targeted marketing will be more successful than non-targeted.

Exactly, this kinda remains me of popups online, take a poll and everyone hates them, put one up and everyone clicks on them... lol
