This may be old news but it's the first I'm hearing of it so I appreciate the post.

Cop deserves to lose his job and spend some time behind bars. Truly a sad story. Another example of a cop on a power trip.

Cops are trained to fire multiple rounds...usually a minimum of three rounds...and in some academies they are trained to keep firing until their target goes down which often means the target will receive many hits.

if you lived in seattle or vancouver it wouldn't be that suprising. I see it a few times a year , and i know a few areas downtown you would almost always see a native guy carving right on the sidewalk

usually the idea is to use force to stop a threat until the threat no longer exists, the problem is interpretation of what is a threat varies from person to person , situation to situation.

"No," Gill said.

Another witness said about the cop, ""I was shocked and surprised. He seemed more aggressive than I was expecting,"

With all that said, I won't be surprised if the cop walks; that's what happens in this country. If he does, we'll have a bunch of native americans rioting in the street (I just hope they don't close the casinos).

I found this quote to be interesting :

Quote:
Birk said Williams was "oblivious" and showed "complete disregard" to the fact that he was crossing the intersection in front of the officer's patrol car.

When I first looked at the video I had no knowledge of this case, but I immediately
thought the cop seemed pissed because the guy "J-walked" right in front of the cop
car. So I looked closer at the video and the traffic light is red and usually that
means the guy could cross the street without j-walking.

That hit me right away, so to see the cop admit that is like WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!

I guess I thought that right away because that happened to me in Los Angeles.
I was walking and didn't even see a police car. I just didn't notice it.

The main thing the cops said to me when they stopped me was :
"you saw us there and still you have the balls to j-walk? ".

Of course they didn't believe I didn't see them and therefore talked major shit to me.
One cop offered to rip my balls off.

It wasn't about j-walking to the cops; it was about them perceiving me to be
defiant or acting above the law...(fill in typical pompous ass cop cliches here )...etc...

They were wrong about me "disrespecting" them, but they will never know it.

They made up their minds before they got out of the car and that was all it was
going to be.

Looks like that happened in this case for sure.

The cop in this case got mad because the Native guy walked right by him and didn't
give a shit that the cop was there. And the native guy should have done just that in
reality. I mean, why notice a police car and change your behavior if you are not doing
anything illegal??

Do you have links to this info?

I haven't heard this before and would like to know more.

"keep firing until the target goes down"...well, I pity the guy robbing the meat packing
house when the first bullet pushes him onto a meat hook so he can't fall down.

from the audio recording after the shooting , explaining himself to supervisor

"he was carving up that board with it open, i approached him and uhh instructed him multiple times and he wouldn't do it"

3:44 of the liveleak video

a little after that another officer asks him "did he do anything else " , replied by "negative"

its one thing to shoot a guy because you feel he is/could be a threat , it's another to shoot a guy you KNOW is using his knife to carve wood simply because he doesn't instantly comply.

IVE HAD ENOUGH OF YOU MAKING SENSE IN THIS THREAD!

There will be no more "sense" from you mister! It is clear cops are innocent in every situation including this one. I mean HEY MAN they have stressful jobs. Geeze man it is not like everyone has a stressful jobs.

Why dont you be more understanding! Maybe if he shot a good looking 24 yo white chick carving wood we should care. But this guy was homeless. HE IS OBVIOUSLY A THREAT AND NEEDS TO BE SHOT IN THE BACK. REASONS DO NOT MATTER! COPS "SHOOT TO KILL! DIDNT YOU KNOW THAT! GEEZE.

He is deaf? SO WHAT! the cop gave him at least 5 seconds to respond before opening fire on him. That is MORE than enough time for an innocent person to react and "disarm" even though they are not "armed".

geeze ive had ENOUGH OF YOU!

Except for the fact that his own department has ruled that it was an unjustified shooting. I suspect that he will be tried and convicted of manslaughter.
