I have xp on my pc which is about 40 seconds, but my acer laptop with windows 7 hooks up within 15 maybe 20 seconds

on my desktop (only 2gb of ram) about ~2 - 3 minutes...

For those with M$ who have said 2 minutes or more, how old is your computer and how many processes are you running (right click toolbar > select Task Manager > select processes)? Many programs can be disabled at startup, which will dramatically improve your computer performance. Besides the long load time at startup, all those programs running in the background will lower the performance of your computer and your productivity. You should only start the programs manually when you need them and not have them automatically load at startup.
