HOT HOT - A big google core algorithm update is rolling out "TODAY" – May 4, 2020
Google’s Danny Sullivan has confirmed that a core algorithm update is rolling out TODAY – May 4,2020
As is typical with these updates, it will typically take about one to two weeks to fully roll out.
------------------------------------
We get about 80% more google traffic per hour ...
Hopefully it will stay that way or it will get even better ;-)
Noticed some drop in traffic too, however, another site in the same niche had a huge traffic boost. I have very similar SEO strategies on both websites.
Around four days ago, I lost all my ranking keywords, for the only site I have that's doing good. I about started to cry, lol. The next day I woke up, and everything was back to normal. Today I lost a little traffic but nothing major.
20 to 30% loss. Far as I can see is that brand terms are slightly affected. I have a huge drop in pornstar names and tags. I see that insta, Twitter and non adult pornstar accounts went up, also big tubes got a bonus in rankings...
Question, what's the difference between those sites in terms of page speed and bounce rate?
Speed: same according to Google Search Console.
Bounce rate: bit worse on the "good" site (not a perfect comparison, using different tools on them)
User engagement: pages/session, visit duration a LOT better on the "good" site
I guess calling the other site crappy is misleading. It has quality content. But it's not been actively updated for years, has way lower user engagement, and popunders.
That said, seems like things improved a bit for me today. So as others said, rankings are still moving around. Fingers crossed!
I've got around 30-40% more traffic for all domains since 4 days ago, It scares me, Because based on my experience it won't last, My domains ranking would fall off pretty soon.
Hello! Does anyone use Clodflare?
After the server load surge, traffic on my site dropped. The hosting provider recommends using services like Clodflare. Is this related to the Google Core Algorithm Update? This is the first time I have encountered such a situation.
Guys come out of your bubble. Not everyone will recover from this shuffle.
The traffic you may have received from Google for years is not yours.
Some think that the traffic they have sometimes received from Google for years is theirs and belongs to their site by now.
Some now take it for granted that they get that traffic. They don't do anything about the site anymore nor do they provide more linkjuice. Why would they do that? Everything is perfect, right?
They now feel robbed by the sites where all that traffic goes today. Of course it is not.
And yes it hurts when you wake up one morning and find that 50% of your traffic is gone (and with it 50% of your income).
But not everyone can do well in google.
It hurts, I understand that, but that's just the way it is.
My tip: Never stop improving your site and strengthening your SEO. Never think you are already there.

With the details you provided it's impossible to tell, is it a new site?
The surge could be Google's crawlers, which explains the traffic drop.
Cloudflare is not related, but you should use it for sure, I use it for all my domains.
