Did the credit card company in the US waived their monthly dues?
Our banks here moved all loans (house, car, credit cards, etc) to one month maturity.
So we are not paying anything this month. If my car loan matures December, it will be moved to January.
People have more time at home with nothing to do but check bank accounts, etc.
Maybe worried about paying more important bills like rent, etc.
Sounds spot on...sitting at home checking, worried about finances and the job = cutting anything that could be cut (and getting caught with some dubious posts on the statement now that wifey has time to check)
A large portion of increased chargebacks probably come from people who willing spent when they were employed, but reassessed the situation after they unexpectedly lost their jobs and now how to pay for life's necessities. I see this as a temporary bump due to those who are newly unemployed and not a long term trend with increased fraud.
Since I announce clearly in member area that chargebacks will be investigated and thoses credit cards blacklisted by all billers and other websites, I have no issues with them at all.

Verotel bans automatically any CC requesting charge-back and I believe other processors do also.

Are you sure? I mean knowing all the shady cross-selling out there that have the customer being billed $240 on a $1 trial, you'd think banning the buyer would be a bad thing for all of us.

We run a VOD site, so we do not have any "re-billing" issues, yet a few years ago we had a bad guy who bought and watched a movie and a few days later we get a notice for chargeback. We went to Verotel and tried to dispute the chargeback and we were told: "The guy will not bother you again he has been banned".
To bad Jason is gone he could have clarified this better.

Standard practice for any biller is to ban the details associated with someone who charges back. That's probably what Verotel meant when they wrote that to you.

Not all. There are basically 2 types of chargebacks, one issued by victims of cc fraud, against them one can't do much.
Secondly the smart-arses who join, download content and issue chargeback after to have a free lunch. They think twice if 30 bucks refund are worth to get cc blocked everywhere and have to get a new one.

Virtual credit card numbers are disposable and easy to get, so blacklisting a specific card number would not be as effective as blacklisting a specific name and address.
A membership with a sex site is like a relationship with someone.
when you have it all the time in front of you it loses her value and you want to dump it.
