Any AVG users out there?

I just got an email from a surfer saying his AVG was reporting a virus on the home page of www.crazyshit.com . Now I know there is no virus, and I have checked the code, check advertisers iframes and anything else I can think of.

I even installed AVG to see if I could replicate the problem. I can't seem to get any warnings.

I was just hoping to ask if anyone has AVG installed, if you could surf the home page and see if any warnings come up?

Thank you!

Jay

It could be a number of things AVG has gone down hill lately.

Just guessing but maybe he has some type of ultra tight security settings? Try adjusting the security settings as tight as possible on AVG and reloading.

Agreed.

I used them YEARS ago. I wanna say maybe 7-10? They started out kick ass, but over time others caught up and passed them. I do not know of anyone using them anymore.

I use it. Got no warnings. But I did get a prompt that I needed additional plugins for Firefox. Of course there weren't any plugins needed. But no warnings from AVG.

I use avg and it's great.

My only guess would be one of these new spyware virus. I saw one named AVE very similar to AVG . It did confuse me. So maybe it's not your site.

That's interesting about the plugins, what version of FF are you using?

AVG is indeed going down hill with some false positives etc. I've been using nod32 a little bit more and will be installing windows security essentials on my new machine to give it a go.

I used AVG years ago until they got annoying about buying the 'Pro' versions.

Now I don't use anti-virus at all. Not on the Macs, not on the PCs.

I used AVG for quite a while but recently switched to something lighter weight on the netbook.

Didn't get it on my AVG but sometimes it detects the IP of a sit you have a link to in a script, and that IP is "reported" as being a source of malware...

:D
