Any AVG users out there?

I just got an email from a surfer saying his AVG was reporting a virus on the home page of www.crazyshit.com . Now I know there is no virus, and I have checked the code, check advertisers iframes and anything else I can think of.

I even installed AVG to see if I could replicate the problem. I can't seem to get any warnings.

I was just hoping to ask if anyone has AVG installed, if you could surf the home page and see if any warnings come up?

Thank you!

Jay

That's not really the point, now is it?

It could be a number of things AVG has gone down hill lately.

Just guessing but maybe he has some type of ultra tight security settings? Try adjusting the security settings as tight as possible on AVG and reloading.

thanks, giving that a shot.

Agreed.

I used them YEARS ago. I wanna say maybe 7-10? They started out kick ass, but over time others caught up and passed them. I do not know of anyone using them anymore.

I use it. Got no warnings. But I did get a prompt that I needed additional plugins for Firefox. Of course there weren't any plugins needed. But no warnings from AVG.

I use avg and it's great.

My only guess would be one of these new spyware virus. I saw one named AVE very similar to AVG . It did confuse me. So maybe it's not your site.

That's interesting about the plugins, what version of FF are you using?

Robbie 04-30-2010 09:24 PM

version 3.6.3

CS-Jay 04-30-2010 09:46 PM

would it be a huge problem if you could screen shot the plugin screen? and email it to jay @ crazyshit.com I really appreciate it!

spazlabz 04-30-2010 09:59 PM

AVG sucks, try Avast, it's better :)

LoveSandra, I started to think that you're a bot...

candyflip 05-01-2010 09:44 AM

No issues or warnings from AVG here.

Sosa 05-01-2010 11:04 AM

AVG is indeed going down hill with some false positives etc. I've been using nod32 a little bit more and will be installing windows security essentials on my new machine to give it a go.

I used AVG years ago until they got annoying about buying the 'Pro' versions.

Now I don't use anti-virus at all. Not on the Macs, not on the PCs.

CYF 05-01-2010 12:20 PM

I used AVG for quite a while but recently switched to something lighter weight on the netbook.

brassmonkey 05-01-2010 12:22 PM

avg sucks

MediaGuy 05-01-2010 01:19 PM

Didn't get it on my AVG but sometimes it detects the IP of a sit you have a link to in a script, and that IP is "reported" as being a source of malware...

:D

dav3 05-01-2010 01:35 PM

Send that user a link to the AVG removal tool and a link to the Avast site.

directfiesta 05-01-2010 03:25 PM

Windows 7, AVG : got to warning , no plugins.

Just your lousy popup chat script ... that still sells ?
