So what's the problem with corn?

i'm going through a couple of my nutrition books looking for a few alternative vegetables and carbs and realized that none of them include corn as a carb.

i did some googlin and couldn't find anything *wrong* per se with corn.

is it a not so good natural food?

I'm getting mixed info on corn, a chart my diabetic nutritionist gave me has corn at 75 on the Glycemic Index, but online it's 54
http://www.carbs-information.com/gly...eetcorn-gi.htm

I dunno what to believe, but I'll keep eating it in small amounts, I love it.

exactly.

over at the bb boards, someone said the proper ratio of corn/legume creates a protein profile better than casein.

but i can't find any info about that other than basic nutritional info.

i love it too, goes good with peas!

It means as an American that's all you eat. Take a look at the ingredients of the things you buy at the food bowl grocery store, I know I'm totally out there sorry. Corn is god. It's bad for you. It's sad ... disturbing and nauseating to say the least. Farmers are forced to grow corn. We eat sick animals = sick people.

Investigate a little. It really isn't hard to figure out once you're comfortable with your tinfoil hat, I am :D . Have a great weekend.

think about that

That's bullshit. It's the most important food in the world. Wheat comes second.

well, from what i have been able to gather- corn has been genetically altered to make it easier to derive high fructose corn syrup from the kernel . the average kernel now has a much higher ratio of endosperm to germ, Simplistically put, the ratio of sugars to vitamins/minerals is now much higher then it used to be.

thus the thinking by many that corn is not a nutritionally high value food any longer.

Nothing is wrong with corn.

There's a movie called "Children of the Corn" - I think something wrong happens in that movie.

Before they bring in livestock to market they switch their diets to corn because it fattens em up.

Prob because there is more calories in corn than grain for a given volume. Lots of sugars or starch in corn and it converts to fat easier than other veg or grains.

So if you "hog out" on canned corn or corn chips you may gain weight easier than expected.
