Is Google giving the shaft to gay?

I just finished creating an ad campaign for a gay site, and I was shocked to see that EVERY keyword was priced at $5 or $10, even though when I pre-checked the keywords, most did not have enough data to even estimate a price, and some of the keywords were so random or benign I could not understand how people were bidding so hotly for them.

Becoming suspicious, I then added the following meaningless keywords and received the minimum bids required to activate them:

Keyword........Cost Per Click

[hot dog love] $5
[keyword] $10
[made up word] $5
[uthengh] $5
[fubar rhubarb] $5
[ajkadiorewporew] $5
[abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz] $10
[google] $10
[google keyword] $10

So to test the theory further, on another campaign, a straight site with the same PR, size, and theme (just less hot man-on-man action), I added thoese words as well. They were all around $0.20 a click.

It has to do with Quality Pricing that is used to determ the quality of your site in relation to the keywords you are bidding for.

Google wants to offer the best quality content to its users, and since march/april 2006 these rules also aply to AdWords content.

I see, so it's just not just other competitive bidders. That Quality Pricing model seems like it would be a lose/lose for both Google and someone running a campaign. Since there would be no way to make your ROI, or even break even, on a $10 keyword, you don't run the campaign, and thus Google gets nothing.

not true!

I do 400% ROI on $10 keywords all day

depends on what you are doing

in any case just change your ad to include the words : find or register

should be fine
