What's better in hd? LCD or DLP? - GoFuckYourself.com

I'm trying to decide between buying a Sony Wega LCD HD tv and a Samsung DLP HD tv.

I currently have a DLP HD tv, and it's not bad at all. So the question is..is there a noticeable difference and/or improvement in an LCD HD tv or DLP?

P.S. Yes..I know..plasma is the best route to go..but have a line on a couple of good buys on these lcd & dlp tvs.

dlp is cheaper than LCD

The toss up on DLP/LCD is this. LCD are smaller and more compact, however dlp can offer a better viewing angle.

As long as you can deal with the size of the dlp I think that "dollar for dollar" you will get a better tv with dlp.

with LCD if you drop a pixle you have to replace the whole screen, plus it's more fragile. with dlp you can touch the screen and if the bulb blows it usually costs you $500. much less than an LCD bulb which can be a thousand

LCD wouldn't buy a DLP at all. And there's a $100+ bulb you have to replace with DLPs every time it burns

But what are the chances that you are going to do this with an LCD? I mean, are they notorious for this happening? I hear lcd gives a much brighter pic than dlp and Sony is touting this new dtv that is supposed to replace ntsc broadcasting in 2006 (Sony has the Wega LCD HD).

I think you are confusing LCD TV's with LCD rear projection TV's, which are two different things.

we just bought a house and I am interested in a new TV as well... something that will hang on the wall... gonna have to research all this as well!

The Sony you are looking at is probably a rear projection LCD, right? So you don't have to worry about replacing any screens. You just replace a bulb just like with DLP.

I would wait for the Sony SXRD 1080p displays. Why buy a 720p when 1080p is comming within a few months.

My brother does have a Sony Wega LCD and it really does look good. i don't know anything about Samsung DLPs.
