Totally sick and disgusted....

Someone used a one of my little known, sorting-only email addresses to start sending me tons and tons and tons of unwanted porn (yeah.. my hard drive is full of porn, and they want to send me more crap!) all from various Yahoo Groups. I would not sign up for these groups if they paid me to! The very worst part is this one group, jjspider, that specifically targets 13 year olds and younger. In order to be a menber, you need to post 3 high quality young girl pics. That was earlier today, now it is 5 pics. I have already turned it to the FBI and Yahoo. I think my original spammer was from WebTV, so I have called them already.

The local sheriff will be out here on Tuesday. Just wait until they see all the porn on my hard drive! In the meantime, the stuff keeps pouring in. I have blocked as much as I can, but it is coming in from new groups all the time. Because the address this bastard is using is not attached to any of my accounts, I can't do much to stop him.

Any other ideas?

Pagan

Edit those URLs out before an admin does it for you. I'm not going to click them... but you can report them to http://asacp.org/reportsite.html http://www.reportchildporn.com/ http://www.fbi.gov/ http://www.customs.gov/

And the host, yahoo.com

Hmmmm, why not kill your yahoo ID that they are sending it to and get a different one? And the egroups/yahoo groups has a page that you can go to and choose to NOT be allowed to be seen to be asked in to groups as well.

It is not my yahoo id.. or any that I use. That is the hard part, and mine are all set to not allow anyone to invite or directly sign me up.

I have already reported these.. but... I know we have some very creative, brilliant minds here who just might be able to help shut these guys down before the authorities get back from their holiday barbeques.

Will edit the URLs...

I read about a guy who called the police when cp was emailed to him, and he was arrested and his computer was confiscated as evidence. They eventually released him and to my knowledge never filed any charges, but the point is be very, very careful.

I'd give them the URLs but not be having it to *show* them. Why put yourself in jeopardy? (This goes right with buying drugs without police knowledge to prove the guy down the road sells it) They will pop YOU first...

Go to the yahoo page and shut that always allowed to ask link (it doesn't work 100%) but it stops the majority of requests to join. I have it set to NO and still get one on occassion. All they have to do is go into a group that has the addies showing in part and use a harvester. Or so I was told.

If you report CP, do so as anonymously as possible, because even if they don't want to prosecute, they could confiscate your equipment and keep it plenty long enough to put you out of business.

BTW, mere possession of CP is a felony. This includes even deleted files and your cache. Normally, you might expect the authorities to be sympathetic to someone who came into possession of it accidentally, but I wonder how much of a break an adult webmaster could expect?

Pagan =

Get that shit off your computer right away, in fact I'd be ready to go get another computer, cause the cop's will very likely try to take that one, now that you have told them about CP being on it You screwed the pooch on this one my friend, the cops have very little power, or reason to care about CP that came from yahoo. I bet the question they will ask is why were you even looking at adult stuff to begin with. And if they do confiscate your system, they will see everything that you do on it. So I recommend you make backups of all your adult stuff on cd's, delete all adult related material from the system, and be ready to go get a new system if they take that one.

I've had too many webmasters that hosted with us, get toasted when the cop's got into it, so please protect yourself!!!

I agree with hardcorehosting 100%. I don't know if I would've called the cops because like he says, they're gonna take your computer and you're most likely gonna be the one in hot water.

The law doesn't work like you think it should. People that try to help out and turn in others by having evidence on them, are the ones that usually get in trouble themselves. I've heard MANY stories like that. And if they'll wanna take your system because that has the evidence on it, so be prepared to lose your system.

We know that you meant well with it. Good luck with whatever happens.

I have had a lot of fun cleaning all the stuff off my hard drive. Anything I value is now on CDs, and all the crap is starting to slow down again. I found out I was targeted, so this was very deliberate. Most of the email addys (blocked now) are from Britan and Germany. The authorities here have shown very little interest, and I am not going to push it. They already have the info they need as far as links. WebTV, AOL, and Yahoo have all continued to cater to these jerks - something I also turned over when I reported this problem. Times like this make me ashamed of my accidental citizenship.

I have always known our government was two-faced. This proves what a farce it is, and how there is no such thing as doing what is morally and ethically proper anymore, at least not in this country. The lines between right and wrong are so terribly blurred that there is no more distinction. It is wrong to send this type of spam out.. it is also wrong to receive it (even without your knowledge or consent) and it is even more wrong to report it.

I totally give up!

Don't give up just yet. No, it is not wrong to report it, just report it to the proper places that deal with this on the internet every day. reportchildporn.com and many other organizations have sites that you can report URL's and email addy's to, and they don't try to come back and bite you in the ass.

As for your backup CD's, I would advise you to give them to a friend ASAP for safe-keeping, and get them out of your house! If the cops come to take your computer, they will literally take everything they can find that has to do with your system, including all your accessories (monitor, cable modem, printer) whether or not the devices store data. They are fucking bastards and mindless drones that have no purpose other than to make a name for themselves in the public's eye, and they will likely jump at the chance to nab a headline concerning a sick child pornographer operating locally.

Watch your back bro. Your computer may be cleaned, but your name and reputation can be ruined anyway. Some cops can really suck ass.
