the new ones are rated some of the best laptops for the money

the old/first models they put out sucked and were horrible, but they regrouped and now are rated some of the highest ratings on cnet and other shopping sites

check them out further, you CAN NOT beat them at all

I have this laptop, bought another 1 gig, put in a 8mb 7200 rpm hd, and it outperforms my desktop xp3000, 9600xt 1.5gig, quad 8mb's... suprisingly enough.

I use it for everything now. =) Renders and Encodes quite a bit faster.

There's only 1 laptop that games better, and thats the Sager/Alienware manufacturers, which is mainly because of hte higher clockable vid card.

CPU tests show this rocks it. =)

Get the new Sony Viao's. I think they run about 2000$ though. Defiently worth it. Mine runs very great, wouldn't trade it for anything else

I would highly recommend either an Apple iBook or Powerbook. They both ARE the best laptops made. But the iBook is really a great value.. under 1k.
