I'm don't know which of his sites were on NS but if it's the ones I'm thinking about they are prime fucking sites. I'll let him give you the names because I don't know if he wants everyone to know.

That fucking blows dude.

Network solutions has been a nightmare for me. I'm almost finished moving all my domains over to Godaddy.

Godaddy lets you lock your domains for free too.

The thing is, this whole week Iv been trying to transfer it to godaddy and each time I do, NETSOL sends me a email rejecting it. I emailed them asking them why and they send me a responce that has NOTHING to do with my question.

Xerox what the heck are you doing leaving great domains with NetSol. They are a bunch of arrogant ass wipes with the absolute worst customer service. Get the fuck off of there and switch to DirectNIC.

Did you straighten it out? I only know 3 of your domains but from just those 3 I would be up somebodys ass in person. Netsol fucked me on a local music domain that was pretty popular here. Lucky for them it wasn't worth the fight to me at the time.

Reading stories like these worry me as I have a lot of domains with NSI as well. Did the domains expire or did someone try to steal them from you?

Hope you resolve the problem, but to be honest, the people who have you on hold are just going to screw with you until someone from legal gets in on monday. Everytime I read these stories happening to people it makes me want to leave NSI.

Most my domains doesn't expire until like 2011... Even if one or two did expire, they wouldn't be able to get a hold of all of my domains. (well not all, just all my ones at netsol).

one of my domains registered there got hijacked too some time back. I remember that I was one the phone ~10h. I had to send a fax stating I'm the owner, that it should be transferred back to me and that it should get locked (if someone tries again to transfer it then they need to phone me first before following that request).

Reason was that I hadn't upgraded security and it's easy to fake NS transfer requests. You just have to know how these emails look.

Phone them again and if it doesn't help try the next girl there. Keep on bugging them till you have a helpful guy on the phone. Oh.. and don't send the fax to their standard number. They have a special one that they check every hour instead of every week.

Twice now I've had to threaten legal action just to get domains moved, once even going so far as to get my solicitor to contact them with a date for when action will commence. They are THE worst domain name solution on the Internet bar none. They seem to have totally missed the fact that they now have competition.

One method I found to also help was to e-mail every combination of name @ netsol/networksolutions (everything from all the VP's to stuff like legal@ ) with a date that legal action will commence and to make sure the e-mail is fairly legible and intelligently worded.

The daft thing is it seems if you don't actually own the domain they're easy to get moved

As I said earlier I had a domain stolen from me but here is another fuck up by NS that I noticed a couple of years ago.

I bought a local music website that was registered before their merger. When it was originally set up it was forwarded to a free host. After a month of trying to get the transfer through because the records were so fucked up from the merger I gave up. The last person I talked to told me to forward the domain and that it was through a 3rd party now.

I visited the said 3rd party website (don't remember the name) and entered the domain name. I signed up in my personal name for their forwarding service on a domain name still registered under the former owner. I entered the domain and the forwarding url, paid $10 or so and it was active immediately. This bothered me so I called and asked the people on the phone why it let me do this and their customer service had nothing to say about it.

Needless to say, I could have taken any domain registrered through NS and forward it to any url I chose in around 2 minutes. No information was needed aside from my billing info. Also, once you set up the forwarding like that you get a username/pass to your account so the original owner can't just go and edit. I don't know if the new owner could have changed it back simply by ordering forwarding from the company on the same domain or not.

This was in 2001 so I don't know if it still works but even if it could be corrected a high traffic site could lose alot of business if someone decided to do it.

I never touched their ass again and let the domain drop.

Network Solutions has been so bad for so many years (verging on fraudulent) that I can't believe that anybody who knows *anything* about domain names still uses them. I have little sympathy for people who still use them. A quick glance at ANY webmaster board will tell you that they are not to be trusted with any important domain. It's kinda' like someone signing up for ClickcCash/iFriends and saying, "Hey, why didn't anybody tell me that these guys bounce checks?" Jesus. If you're really that clueless, I've got some really hot dot-com stocks to sell ya'.

NetSol sucks it is like PayPal I just don't trust them. We have all our domains with DirectNic with never a problem. Cheaper isn't always better though. I had a friend get domains for 8.99 and it was really fucked up so be careful. Good luck with your domains.

That time came about 4 years ago - nothing new here!

I went thru a similar story twice with VeriSign, and the second time was once to many (no - wrong: the first time was once too many)! But the weird thing is: it totally depends whom you're getting in support, cause they can do things quickly and w/o any fuss... Just not when you need them to

Assuming the domains statuses are "REGISTRAR-LOCK" when you do a whois, keep checking the whois on them to make sure it doesn't change. If it does, your hijacker is preparing to move them to another registrar, and will probably have it done before Monday. If they know what they're doing, they'll move them to an offshore registrar with terrible support (I can think of several!). If the domain statuses are already "ACTIVE" (i.e., not locked) rather than "REGISTRAR-LOCK," well, you have to hope the hijacker is a bad one, or you better get up someones ass at Netsol to lock them down pronto. REGISTRAR-LOCK is relatively new, and if you never explicitly locked them yourself, their default status would probably be ACTIVE. (Haven't used them in an age, but Netsol always used to default to the most minimal security possible).

Two years ago when I moved off of Netsol to Godaddy I had problems, too. The form on Netsol wasn't setup properly. It had named the zip code field something else. So even though I entered the info into the appropriately named input boxes, it was storing it wrong and I kept getting rejected because it said I didn't enter a town or zip or something.

Three weeks after I finally got everything moved I was still getting emails from Netsol telling me something was wrong, and then a month later I got an email saying it had been transferred.

Just my opinion, but you really should leave NSI. You're going to have problems with them eventually.

I talked about Netsol many of times.

So I make it short..
My credit card was on file for autorebill

They never rebilled one of my domains and somebody snagged it really really quick

with 2 other names

after i got an email saying it was rebilled
after the deducted my money

I still lost the domain, they did refund me my 20 bucks for the renewel so

GFT

Xerox what was one of the names. Or the new whois info for contacts. I know of several high profile hijackers, and if it is one of them, then this is what will happen:

They will lock the domain, they will transfer the domain to another registrar, then immediately transfer it 2-3 more times to diff registrars. It will take netsol 3-6 months before they can even track it all down (if yer lucky) and get yer names back.

In the above case what you *can* do is prove income for a month on all those domains, then sue verisign for that amount x the number of months/years you had them registered. You might get a good chunk of change all at once from that.

In preparation for a lawsuit, jot down the date/time and name each time you talk with someone at Netsol, along with a summary of the call. You're still only one day into their fucking up, and have two more to go, so it would be good to provide evidence of their fucking up even after alerted to the problem. If they do get transferred around, the worst of the fucking is yet to come.

It's amazing that a registrar raking in something like a billion dollars a year in registration fees can't afford to provide weekend support.

Directnic is #1. They have live support, you can auto lock your domains. Sure it's $15, but who gives a fuck about $15. If you register a domain name and even get a 'free' signup, you get your money back. Get a regular pay per signup and you 2x your money.

Directnic is secure and I've never heard of any problems with them.

Cheers
