Ever had to "tell off" someone else's kids ??

I was at the pet store earlier today and whilst looking for some fish, 2 brats were running around slapping on each of the aquariums glass with quite a force. The idiot parents didn't even bat an eyelid.

There is signs all around the place saying "Please don't touch the glass". Yet these retards just let their kids do quite the opposite.

Knowing they would hear me, i let the kids know they weren't supposed to do that, and it was then the idiot mother decides to actually say something. Telling me i should mind my own business.

I was in there to possibly purchase these fish. Yet they were getting scared shitless because of some crazy kids. I think i was within my rights to voice my opinion.

Why are so many parents incapable of doing the basic parenting skills these days ??

parents today are afraid of their kids. its easier for them to let them be assholes then to actually try and punish them.

ahh no? do you randomly tell off people? why would children be any different?

you can stop them from hurting themselves etc.. but you better have a real good explanation when the gorilla father shows up

I haven't told kids off but have politely mentioned to them that what they're doing isn't cool. I agree with BlackCrayon parents today are fucked up and in 20 years we'll be seeing the results of it. You think there are a shitload of narcissistic losers today just wait.

Maybe I live in a bubble but I can't remember the last time I've seen kids fucking off to the point where the parents should have shut them down. Then again, I'm the one who plays hide and seek with my kid at Target.

The problem is that so many parents want to be their kids 'friend' instead of their parent.

We used to hang out with a married couple that has 3 kids, ranging in age from about 4 upto 10 (I think) those kids were spoilt rotten and got away with murder, one time we went out to lunch and they bought their girl with them, she started throwing a tantrum because the place wouldn't serve her 'pink' milk, the parents didn't do shit about it.

That was one of the last times we actually hung out with them, I hate to think what is going on in their lives now (some 5 years later).

so you intimidate children into behaving in a way YOU believe is acceptable, but haven't had the chance to communicate yet?

Nobody is talking about intimidating children or what we believe is acceptable. What is acceptable, in somebody else's store or property, is what they have defined. In the context of the original post, it's not acceptable to be banging on the glass in a pet store.

Try using your tiny little brain just one time you fucking moron.

I don't tell the kids anything, I talk directly and very loudly towards the parents so everybody can hear me say things like "can you please control your own kids? do you see anybody elses kids doing this type of shit? do you guys not know how to keep your own kids in check? are you scared of your kids? if they dont listen to you now, imagine when they're teens? are you guys waiting until a tank breaks and cuts them to get a child protective services case?" etc. That usually gets a few supporting "yeahs" from the public and embarrasses the fuck out of the parents so they try everything to make me stop lol.

Shame none of the pet store employees chose to intervene. You'd think they'd have at least said something to the parents, if not directly to the children.

Some people prefer to take an active role in society as opposed to watching from the sidelines. At one point in time, humans actually formed communities and helped each other out, taught each other's kids. Shocking to think about, I know.

If you stop a child from hurting an animal when no other adult is around, is that also intimidating a child in to what you consider to be acceptable?

I swear the stupidity on this board gets worse by the day.

Hate most of todays parents.

Had a little girl next to me on a flight once with her gameboy outloud. Told her to turn it done as it annoyed me and other people. The girl looks to her mom, mom gives me the evil look but tells her kid to turn sound off. Like wtf am I getting the look for lol

It has happened to me twice. Once with my own nephew. My nephew is a punk and his mom lets him get away with anything and everything. There were a few family members over at my house including him and he decides it is okay to do skateboarding tricks in the kitchen. He is jumping up in air, putting the board down and slamming down onto the floor. The first time he does it I just look at him. He does it a few more times and nobody says anything. It is loud, obnoxious and fucking up my floor. I ask him to do that outside. He doesn't listen and does it again. I tell him to stop and go outside. He looks at me like I am out of my mind and says, "I do this all the time at home." I say, "Your mom might not care if you fuck up her house and annoy everyone in it, but I do care if you do it here. Either go out side or stop." When he looks like he is about to do it again I say, "If you do another trick on that board in the house I'm going to break that board in half." He huffs and puffs and goes outside and his mom immediately makes excuses for him.

The other time was at a Seattle Mariner baseball game. I am there with my girlfriend and a couple of friends. We are sitting in the four seats on the end of a row. In the row in front of us is a father and son. The boy is about 12-13 or there abouts. The boy is eating sunflower seeds and spitting like crazy onto the walkway stairs and cursing like a sailor. Clearly he thinks this is fine since they are at the ball park. I'm not kidding when I say that the walkway/stairs next to him is soaking wet with spit an seeds by the 2nd or 3rd inning. It is gross. Finally it just annoys me enough that I lean up and ask if he can spit into a cup and maybe curse a little less. His dad looks at me and says, "We are at a baseball game." I say, "That is true, but that doesn't mean the rest of us want to hear how many swear words your kid knows nor do we want to have to walk through a puddle of his spit when we want to leave our seats." He is about to say something when a few other people chime in and agree. The two end up just sitting and spitting seeds into a cup the rest of the game.

Considering the bozo millennials what you say scares the shit out of me. True though.

I was at the post office yesterday and a woman with 2 kids, Hudson and Haden, ugh, were tearing the place up. She'd ask them to stop and they would not even look at her, would break away and kept at it. 7 or 8 year olds. One kept telling her basically to fuck off.

Well, if an adult was doing the same thing, then yes i'd have said something aswell. Because it's a child doesn't make any difference to me.

My point was, i shouldn't have had to do anything, since the parents were there. But they chose not to do jack shit.

If a kid was doing something to your car while parked out front, would you not do or say anything ?

It's all in the parenting, my uncles kids are the best behaved kids you'll ever find, they ask his permission for most things, if he says no, there's no drama or anything, they say "Ok dad" and go about their life. I asked him how he does it and his response was "It's easy, I treat them properly and they respect me and their mum and do as they are told"

I'm sure there is much more to it than that but I didn't question him lol. You'll never find his kids misbehaving in public, or at family events, they are very polite to everyone. Far too many spoiled ass kids in the world today, I have no patience for it especially if I'm in a restaurant or some other public place.

if i went around correcting all the out of control kids in malls, stores, parks, parking lots, sidewalks, buses, trains, airplanes, waiting rooms, etc et al, on&on, i wouldn't get much done.

kids are rewarded for acting out.

I'm sure there is much more to it than that but I didn't question him lol. You'll never find his kids misbehaving in public, or at family events, they are very polite to everyone. Far too many spoiled ass kids in the world today, I have no patience for it especially if I'm in a restaurant or some other public place.
Parenting is the key. A friend of mine has very well behaved, great kids. They do well in school, are well rounded and all around good people. His oldest just graduated high school and went in the Air Force and the youngest is now a sophomore in high school.

He and his wife both have the theory on parenting that you get what you give. They teach their kids that if they want respect, they have to give respect. If they want freedom and trust they have to show that they can handle it and trust others. The kids quickly learned that if they act up and throw fits, they aren't going to get their way. Instead, if they do well in school and treat others well their parents give them a lot of freedom and trust them.

Part of it too is that he and his wife have a good relationship and things are calm in their house. If mom and dad are always arguing, disagreeing and there is chaos in the house, the kids see that as the norm and it becomes part of their lives.

One of my best friends is a cop and he says at least once per month he gets dispatched to a call that simply says, "Domestic Dispute" only to find out when he gets there is a kid not listening to their parents. A few weeks ago he showed up at a house and the mother told him she called the cops because her daughter won't clean her room.

Every generation has kids like these. being a lazy, inconsistent parent isn't a new problem.

Why are so many parents incapable of doing the basic parenting skills these days ??
A few years ago, I had a car at a car show and these kids ran up and slapped the bonnet like it was a drum and all I said was 'please don't do that' - no yelling, no intimidation (a request) and I had both parents in my face.

So then I picked up the dad twirled him around in circles above my head and body slammed him. The mum tagged in and caught me off guard with a kick to the guts, so I punched her in her stench trench grabbed her by her legs and threw her over the fence.

There were parents like that back in the 70's, 60's, and probably as far back as when the first pet store was opened. They are the types who also let their kids run around a restaurant like hellions, disrupting all the other patrons. God forbid anyone says a negative word in their direction regarding their little precious darlings, those 'idiot parents' start raising the roof.

It just seems like there's more of them around today.

You were perfectly within your rights to say something.
