there is a lot of evidence that they are not making nukes.

they are shear muslims and its against there rules.

thbe truth is only very few countries can lopaunch nukes with sucsess (china, usa, russia) as you need lots of them otherwise these days missiles can blow them out of the sky.

the best way to launch a nuke strike is with subs as you can get close up to loaunch.

they are an old weapon.

the other problem is they may not work. this is why they test them all the time.

a long range nuke strike is pointless as they would be spotted and plenty of time to knock them out of the sky.

no country in there right mind would use them.

in fact even russia does not parade them as they used to.

the truth is, in the next election chances are things will change.

they are NO threat.

its all talk, and not wanting to back down.

the danger is this esculates and becomes a war.

give them nukes and it stopes the esculation.

iran is a complex country.

the people are young (youngest of any country due to wars) and middle class, modern, love mp3 players and stuff.

the goverment is made up of a puppet head, with religiouse leaders in charge. goverment seems split, and i think many were recently sacked as they want a liberal goverment.

its also a shear muslim country - and thats different to that of those who acctaced the twin towers. while it was reported in usa news they had recently joined forces, in fact shear muslims are in conflic with them and do not want much to do with them.

iran at the moment has high unpemploment putting huge presers on the goverement.

also the trade embargoes is having a big impact.

then you have the hystoric problems of the west creating the goverments of certain counrtries.

Iran is run by a bunch of religious zealots who think they're accountable only to God, and there's no real guarantee that any nuclear weapon they could build would be used for deterrence only. There's a big difference between a state that builds one as an equalizer against a far more powerful and belligerent neighbor, and a state that builds one for more equivocal reasons. It can be argued that the U.S. is precisely that "more powerful and belligerent neighbor," but I don't think that's a very strong argument at present.

And, yes, there are Shi'ite terrorist groups, Hezbollah being the main one.

in some ways you could say that about the usa as so much polotics is based on religion. ie, abortion. usa has a lot of religion within its polotics that is not found say in most western countries.

Also uk has a few people in the top rancks of church on egland that sit in the house of lords. this has been often poited out and questioned why the church of england has such power in todays world.

the thing about iran is that in the last elections they belive the vote was riged and so i am not sure they will get away with it in the next elections.

but as i say, these 'religious zealots' belive nuclear weapons to be a huge sin, so in that respect its unlikly they will want them.

We are not a government run by religious zealots, not by a long shot. You cannot even begin to compare the few right-wing politicians in the US that pander to their religious base with theocratic regimes in the middle-east, that's insane.

While people can argue the geopolitics of it back and forth all day, in the end common sense eventually has to reassert itself and say: It's probably not a good idea to let a bunch of religious zealots get nuclear weapons.

I just don't understand why the leaders of some countries have to be assholes. Look at Saddam, he had it all there and if he just would've complied a little and let those inspectors look where they wanted, when they wanted, he'd still be alive in his own country. If I knew by me not complying with something, that's eventually gonna lead to someone storming into my country and pulling me out of power, I sure as hell would let them do their inspections. Iran will soon find out the same hard way.

Saddam had the misfortune of pulling his antics at the worst possible time, really. Iran knows something that a legion of tinpot dictators and not-so-nice regimes around the world have known for ages - contrary to the assertions of so many people whose only real experience with American foreign policy is the Afghan/Iraq wars, it is incredibly difficult to get the U.S. off its ass in favor of a military solution to anything. You can storm American embassies, blow them up, attack U.S. navy ships, threaten someone under the American security umbrella, kidnap American civilians, and still not get anywhere close to provoking war with the United States. It took an attack on the scale of 9/11 to get the U.S. into Afghanistan and Iraq in any serious fashion, and Saddam just happened to be saber-rattling around that time. Saber-rattling and even outright provocation isn't enough to do it though.
