When You were starting out.

As you all know I'm new to the business... and technically I'm still not in it, just observing, taking notes & networking with some people. My question is basically How did you get into the business? If you made your own site, what kind was it and how much did u initially invest into it?

So yeh those are the basic questions that are on my mind today & would very much appreciated if u answered, just so I can see different peoples stories etc.

Thanks In advance all.

made my site in one weekend with a free domain and $10/year hosting off e-bay. Couldn't believe how ast I had to go to dedicated servers to handle the influx of traffic.

haha thats usually what all those "too cheap to be believable" deals on ebay do.

After a few months they're closing your account unless you buy a $60 /month deal

are you serious? you don't expect to have a moneymaking web site for very long while paying $10 a year for hosting, do you? if you want to make serious money on this, you can't start skimping when you're building your foundation. invest in reliable hosting. don't look to cut corners on the essentials.

Started with about $7/mo for reliable hosting and $6 for domain. Only invest in something that's worth investing in. If you were cheap like MUA, then you will find ways to get around the money issue.
