Oof. That sounds like what my computer started doing when I got a virus/rootkit.
Do a google search for something along the lines of 'symantec anti-virus' and click some of the results. Do they get redirected? Apparently SE redirects were just a part of the nasty bundle that attacked my machine.

It's GFY. Mine's been doing that for at least 6 months now. I think it's in someone's sig. Never had it actually cause problems, just pops the antivir...gone. long gone.

I'll start a file of the offending threads with the IP from which the attacks originate and post it periodically so that the perp can perhaps be determined.
Subsequent virus and security scans indicate no infecton but lots of blocked attempts.

It probably is just a sig as others are suggesting. However when my computer got hit all the scans I ran came up clean too. I kept getting the blocked attack warnings, then noticed the search engine redirects, and then other stuff started getting corrupted.
Most antivirus software keeps a log of the notices - have you checked there for more info?

Simple internet attacks which my security software blocks and I suspect that you really know nothing about the worlds of blackhat,phishing, trojans, worms, spyware, etc, and since you are essentially uneducated those regards, you are out of your depth as you resort to Ad Hominem attacks rather than deal with the issue at hand but that is OK with me. Exposing the attackers is much, much better and far more fun!
MACs are only "safe" because they have held such a pitiful portion of the market, resulting in an unbelievable arrogance on the the part of MAC owners and a very,very false and complcetely unfounded sense of security; "We're safe!", "MACs are immune!" and such other similar horseshit. MACs simply were not worth bothering with for the bad guys because of the low market share.
The bad news is that now that MAC or Apple or whatever the fuck you want to call those travesties of electronic machines have a larger market share, the bad guys are targeting them and have run experimental attacks in order to improve the malware. With most MAC users virtually unprotected, one morning about 90% of them will wake up and find themselves botnetted or worse.
They will then cry and howl "UNFAIR!"; Apple stock will plummet and people will go back to where they should have been in the first place.
AND there is NOTHING wrong with my computer! It is an out-and-out attack from the earlier specified domain!

I haven't had a virus in 4 yrs and the only security I use is AVG free edition and weekly scans with 'spybot'.
I find it funny when people are lonely and need attention they start stupid threads like this. What could you possibly do that is worth someone attacking your port 80. LOL. I can't for the life of me figure out what you do? You don't produce or provide content. You don't design or develop websites or programs.
What do you do that has relevance to this board?

(2) I give up! Why would someone attack through Port 80? What I know is the attacks are occuring and occuring on several threads on this board.
(3) What I do that is relevant to this board is market adult, Mr. Smarty-pants!
(4) Such attacks represent a legitimate security concern to the board and its users.
(5) And I'm not seeking attention, Dr. Phil. I am bring to the attention of the board a possibly dangerous situation worthy of investigation.
AVG is precisely what is detecting this threats, so I would suggest to you that you need to update your AVG and check the settings and no, it's not a cookie problem.

It's possible your computer is giving you false positives. As AVG is fairly popular and you seem to be the only one here affected by this, it leads me to believe that your computer may have corrupt file(s).
Have you tried using a different browser to see if AVG still identifies a problem? Instructions on how to eliminate most such warning messages:
Click on User CP, then click on Edit Options, then scroll down to Visible Post Elements.
Uncheck Show Signatures
Uncheck Show Images (including attached images and images in [IMG] code)
Then click Save Changes. Hope this helps.
