looks like the fuckfaces at .XXX are starting to roll out the "we're protecting you" bullshit part

http://domainincite.com/xxx-domains-...s-from-mcafee/

ICM Registry has signed up with security software outfit McAfee to provide automatic virus scanning for all web sites hosted at .xxx domain names.

Under the $8 million deal, ?every .XXX domain will be scanned for vulnerabilities such as SQL injection, browser exploits and phishing sites, reputational analysis and malware?, ICM said in a press release.

The subscription, which is based on the McAfee Secure offering, will be included in the price of the domain, which is expected to start at around $75 at the cheapest registrars.

McAfee normally charges a lot more than that; ICM has basically negotiated a bulk discount for its customers.

There are two ways to take adva...................

Sealing their own fate with that...it would have been a hard enough extension to sell if they cost $10/yr.

since you can buy a .xxx domain and simply redirect it to some spyware, trojan, cj, popup hell on a .com or whatever without any problems, the whole concept is flawed anyways.

and their argument "it's not on a .xxx domain anymore" doesnt carry either since no surfer will notice that he got redirected before his computer was fucked

Really? They've lied to us, to ICANN, to the media,... They are clearly a threat to this industry. the worst thing that can happen is that they succeed in creating the impression that they somehow are "the home of responsible adult companies". That would give them more firepower to lobby to make the use of .xxx domains mandatory. It also reflects badly on your .com domains.

Applauding or supporting anything that would make the .xxx tld better amounts to giving the ICM more power. Power they won't have if we continue to shun them.

XXX will be worthless. Entire countries will be blocking them, as will every business, government agency, and college around the world. Then factor in that every public location with free Internet will block them because they want to "protect kids", not to mention that ISPs will eventually add in options to block XXX.....

No one will be able to see it.

All .XXX websites contain viruses inherently. Their business model is designed to force surfers to buy expensive virus protection software, otherwise their computers will be attacked.

Surfers aren't going to like these gangster-like methods devised by the .XXX thieves. It is clearly MUCH SAFER to just visit the tried-and-true .COM websites.

Damn, I just got another fucking virus visiting a .XXX site! Thieving Fuckers! Someone should block all of these .XXX sites. I don't want my kids visiting them, that's for sure!

Feel free to pass on this misinformation. Get your message out before they do.

Man, I hate when people force questions that make it appear I support .xxx but how exactly does this force surfers to buy McAfee business software?

Let me play the devil's advocate here, but how does ICM benefit by the demise of the adult industry?

You made a comment that this is forcing surfers to purchase [McAfee] AV software if the want to visit a .xxx website.. How did you arrive at that conclusion?

How do these tards arrive at any conclusion? Some combination of bong hits, booze, adderall, prozac/lexipro and weed, coupled paranoid delusions and a deep rooted resentment of anything even remotely resembling authority.

They would benefit from mandatory use of .xxx domains.
They would benefit from a perceived unreliability of adult sites on .com domains. And this is exactly what they are trying to do. It's time to flip the script on them.

How would .xxx cause perceived unreliability of adult sites on .com domains? Because the .xxx has a McAfee Secure label? If that was really a selling point, would it not make sense to add that to your .coms?

Read Lawley's statements, comments etc.... They're marketing the .xxx tld as "the home of responsible adult sites", implying that .com based adult site owners are somehow not responsible.

btw: I bet by now those blackhats, who hack adult sites and inject code that installs trojans on visitors computers, have figured out by now that if they hack a .xxx site they have to make sure they are serving clean copies to the McAfee bots... so this kinda defeats the ICM's whole selling point

People behind it will make a few hundred million on the way and they will have satisfied the ideological needs of their brethren to put another nail in the coffin...where do you think ICM falls: left, right or center?

Getting McAfee is like hiring a deaf, dumb and blind gut to be an air traffic controller.

I think ICM's primary motive for this is ensuring that McAfee doesn't block .XXX

buying #McAfee #antivirus = supporting the .xxx domain.

#McAfee (#antivirus company) supports the .xxx domain. #Jesus
Make sure Intel stockholders see it by including $INTC and add hash tags like #Porn #Sex #Nudity etc.

I doubt any insurance company is going to jeopardize their reputation by getting involved with a high profile porn deal.

and here it contradicts itself again

they assure that they police the .xxx domains before they go live so that no illegal material can be posted. and now they want to offer insurance against that? it makes no sense

i have said it before:

if they would just say "hey, here's our TLD, we try to make it popular and thats why you pay more for the domain" it would be all good.

but nothing, absolutely nothing, what they list as USPs holds water if you look a little closer

if have nothing against them personally, i just think that their business model is seriously flawed and their attitude sometimes lacks a little modesty

Why are some people on this site now siding with the .XXX idea?

Inquiring minds would like to know....
