@MissDiva - No, he refuses to specify what he has not received. He simply keeps stating;

Quote:
No, I haven't received the order yet. So I had you to refund it.
.

I sent Paypal all the information. Once a claim is escalated those funds are frozen until resolved so he doesn't have access to them.

Yeah, I figure he grabbed the money and ran because he was silent for a bit. I figure the money is gone but at least it will help shut him down until he starts up again under another nickname/info/paypal account.

Shit! Had given him my links also.
Yep I'm happy to put links up before payment (if same day), so I agree, buyers should start insisting on this, I'd want to if I was one.
Thanks for the head's up!

Just a quick update on this.

I received notification from Paypal that I have won the dispute and the money has been put back into my account. Here is what they had to say...

Quote:
We have concluded our investigation of the Buyer Complaint for the
transaction detailed below.

According to the User Agreement, PayPal's Buyer Complaint Policy applies
only to the shipment of goods and not to services and other intangible
goods. For that reason, we are unable to take any action regarding this
complaint. We encourage you to work directly with the buyer to resolve this
issue.
Obviously I will not be refunding the scammer his cash...

Cheers!
Chris

Must say it is a risky business buying hardlinks. Scammed once, and nearly a second time. I guess the best advice is to ask them to put up links first.

That works ok for the seller, but if your a buyer you are screwed just like with epass.

Yep agreed Mike. I have already attempted to contact the person who got screwed purchasing the links to try and work something out for him/her. They obviously got scammed and won't be able to get their money back based on this decision.

I simply wanted to try and get this fucker's paypal account frozen.

You say it's Mike Geal and he is a scammer. I was scammed by Mike Geal around January 23, 2010. He sent a paypal payment, and then he reversed the payment for no good reason. Be careful, everyone.

Anyone know of George SEO 423296439.. he's trying to broker links, was told he is a known scammer - watch out for him if that's the case, he offers to send more than the amount required which might get some people scammed.

Ok , I gave Marcy the heads up:

I was asked for links by xxxxSEO, his email address is [email protected], his Paypal is [email protected]. He paid more than what I asked him for a set of links ( His client sent 1000$ to my Paypal - links were worth 300$ ) and asked me to send to his Paypal the difference ) it looked weird to both my partner and me so I refunded the 1000$,

He did not scam me, but fearing a 1000$ reverse on Paypal, like it usually happens, I had to cover my ass. I have nothing against the " middle guy " or them making an extra coin, but it looked bad in many different ways.

I did not accuse him, but exposed the method just so each could decide what to do...He might be a very inexperienced middle guy and just that. (?)

To add to what Nikad posted (we're partners)...

We were contacted by one person saying he was brokering links. He said he had a client that wanted links, he was going to have the client send money to us through paypal. He then wanted us to keep our fees and forward the rest of the money to him.

Nothing seemed to make sense. First, if both have paypal accounts, why did one need to send through us to get to the other. Second, if broker guy is playing middle man, it's pretty common business sense that you don't reveal your supplier to your client if you want to keep making money as a middle man. Third, when the initial money was sent to us, and we decided to refund it, broker guy replied saying "is there any way to reverse this? you can keep an extra $100 or something." I don't know too many people who just give away $100 for absolutely nothing.

FWIW, one thing I do, and have done for many years, is I verify domain ownership if I do not know the person with whom I am conducting business. At the very least have them send an email from the domain for which they wish to purchase links, or sell links -- and more especially if those domains hide their WHOIS info.

I suppose I am lucky in that I have never been scammed in this regard, as it certainly appears as though scams are becoming increasingly more common.

FWIW, Devin/Rebel-Ads.com represents my sites -- no one else.

Thanks for the heads up on this thread.
