High end arcade site for sale - $900/month revenue

Two year old arcade site - www.playedonline.com is for sale.

The site has been growing consistently since creation in both revenue and traffic and currently has the following monthly statistics:

Pageviews: 700,00
Absolute uniques - 125,000
Revenue: $900

50% of traffic comes from the US and another 35% comes from the UK, Canada and Australia (20%, 10% and 5% respectively).

Bandwidth usage is about 225GB/month and the site is hosted on one dedicated server costing 99$/month at OC3networks

All of the hosted games (about 3,000) are freely distributed games. The site is based on a version of gamesitescript and is running on PHP/MySQL/Apache.

The majority of traffic comes from Google as the site ranks very well for the terms "Free Games" and "Free Online Games". Most inbound links to the site have been established using one of the following methods:

1. Article submissions.
2. Press releases.
3. Organically (without my involvement)
4. Directory submission.

The minimum bid for this site is $25,000 - the site will not be sold for less. The BIN price is $40,000.

Statistics are available over e-mail for potential buyers only (please do not request them if you're not willing to make an offer above $25K).

Escrow fees will be split between the buyer and seller.

I would perfer inquires and bids via e-mail (webmaster [at] playedonline.com)

44 months of revenue for an arcade site? Please give me some of what you're smoking, and if you actually sell it, please give me some of what the buyer is smoking too.

c'mon dude ... 10-15 months is standard, especially with arcades monetized by adsense. way too volatile. but good luck on your sale.

I was semi-interested until I saw the asking price. That is insane, good luck getting someone to pay that.

Its actually even more the 44 months for the BIN you are forgetting about hosting costs. 900 is gross not net revenue from what I read.

Your price is insane man.

44 months approx 4 years. if i invested that money and made average 10% interest a year..thats 35k and would be less risky then what your proposing. Tomorrow Google can shut you down without even trying just with a simple update or change in the way they handle keywords. I'd say you would be best with about a 6 month figure or..hold on to it and milk it for all its worth

Since posting, revenue has increased to an average of $50/day and traffic to 9,000 uniques/day. Expected revenue for November is $1,500.

That's nice, but you don't have a history at that income. A years income is fairly standard. It's not like your site is anything special vs all the other arcade sites that are out there.

Only difference is your is making a little money, but that hardly makes the site worth 44 months income.

I can sometimes do it for free.

Sorry man was just posting the truth. It is a nice site and I give you credit for actually making money with it, but it's still a very high price.

Now you're just being ridicoules. I'll gladly buy any site that is over two years old and makes $1,500/month through 100% organic traffic for $5K. Hell I'd pay $10K without asking too many questions.

It's true that if a buyer has no intentions to develop/promote the site and only intends to milk it until it dies - $25K might be overpaying it (it's really hard to evaluate the risk).

However, the bottom line is that a site that shows up on the first page of Google for the terms "Free Games" and "Free Online Games" and receives 7,000 new visitors dailly just from those terms is a commodity with very limited supply.

My expertise is SEO, I don't know anything about games or the gaming industry. I've taken the site as far as I can, now it's time for someone well versed in the online gaming industry to take over.

That said, I am by no means in a rush. Not only am I confident in the revenue, I'm also confident in my ability to regain good rankings in the SERPs if they were to one day drop for some reason. I could use the money for another project but it's not a deal breaker.

The thing is... You can't say "it makes 1,500 a month" when it's only done it once.. has to be repetitive..

Arcades, like this one.. are worth 4 - 6 months.
