Has anybody read these books?

The Richest Man in Babylon - George Clason

Retire Young, Retire Rich - Robert Kiyosaki

On the Road - Jack Kerouac

I purchased the last one from seeing earlier post. I will be traveling and wondered which one I should take with me.

excellent book. Read it 10 years ago and still remember some of the stories.

McAttack 01-13-2003 09:57 PM

nope, but I am looking into getting Rober tKyosaki's series of books. i've listened to some of the MP3s from kazaa to see what it's about and I liked it, so I'm gonna go buy the books soon.

As for the other two, I have no clue. Kyosaki is a book that you gotta read and pay attention to, really get into it and analyse what he says though, so it depends what you feel like.

I personally like a nice thick "Where's Waldo?" book. With pop-up tabs.

Fletch XXX 01-13-2003 09:59 PM

Ive read 'On The Road' COuntless times.

One of the Greatest books ever written.

I recommend the one on real estate. Very interesting to hear. Different ideas on how to go about things.

3 I recommend (though you weren't asking me) are
1) Art of War
2) The Prince - Nicolli Machiavelli
3) 48 Laws of Power

B40 01-13-2003 10:18 PM

If only I had more time. Always wanted to read Art of War and The Prince.

Any other suggestions? (from anyone)

quiet 01-13-2003 10:18 PM

I'm more into action stories, so in fiction, I like Robert Ludlum. I'd recommend the Jason Bourne series, which is The Bourne Identity, the Bourne Supremacy, and the Bourne Ultimatum. A very good series.

Non-fiction, I kinda enjoyed reading a few books by some former SAS guys.
CQB by Mike Curtis was very good
Bravo Two Zero by Andy McNabb is also very good, especially because it deals with a mission that happened in Desert Storm, where some of his mates did not make it back. A very interesting historical read.

On the Road is a great book, especially when travelling. The funnest part about it is trying to figure what "it" is all about when you finish the book. It's all about "it"! :thumbsup

My all-time favorite is "The Demon Haunted World - Science as a Candle in the Dark" by Carl Sagan. Should be required reading for everyone on the planet.

Have a good trip!

On the Road is fantastic, it completely rocks.

If you're going that vein, I'd get
The Electric Kool Aid Acid Test as well, if you like one you probably will like the other.

stanton 01-14-2003 01:13 AM

who is a book?

On-top 01-14-2003 02:37 AM

Kingdom of Fear - Hunter S. Thompson

This just came out, and it's really an interesting read...and relates to the adult world to a certain extent. It has some amazing stories and is very funny. I mean, this guy is 65 years old, and sees the world from a completely different angle than most.

Take 20 mins everynight before you go to bed to read and you would be amazed the number of books you have read in a year.

Totally agree. Most nights I'd feel I'd forgotten something if I hadn't taken the time to crack a book and read at least a few pages. Besides loving to read and getting involved in a story, my brain just doesn't stop spinning unless I read before bed. Reading is also meant to keep all those meaningless bits of trivia we all have floating about in our heads actually floating there rather than just fading away. Improves spelling and vocabulary too.

ZoiNk 01-16-2003 09:26 PM

I think I read that book by Robert. I read like 6 or 7 of his. Most I found throughly enjoying and entertaining. Some were dull and bland (espially the ones as part of his "advisor" series"). But if you want something that will keep you entertained, at least in the first half, go with his book. Haven't read the other ones yet, they are on my list of books to read in the next couple months though.

Also check out "Dharma Bums" by Jack Kerouac...another good read.

(EDIT) Oops...saw someone already recommended it. Well, I second it.
