One of the best purchases in my life: 65" Plasma TV

Watched the "Predators" blu-ray torrent last night.

Life is good :glugglug

baddog 10-11-2010 12:15 AM

Well, while I really enjoy my 60" Sony I hardly think it would rank anywhere close to one of the top purchases of my life. It must be the additional 5".

rhizome 10-11-2010 12:36 AM

mozadek 10-11-2010 12:37 AM

Fascinating

garce 10-11-2010 12:42 AM

I only have a 42" and a 32" tv. They are the LAST things I care about. I use the 42 to watch the Leafs, the Phillies (go Doc!) and I play Red Dead Redemption on it every now and then.

I'd be just as happy with a little 20" crt. Big screen doesn't help my teams win!

k0nr4d 10-11-2010 12:42 AM

I bought a full hd projector for $2k, and a screen for $200. 240inch screen and looks damned good too

I don't think they make 240 inch screens for home use. Mine is 120'' and its already one of the biggest. From what I know, the biggest which uses a motor.

Don't rain on his parade.

A friend of mine had a projector and simply used a blank wall as a screen...worked pretty decently.

icymelon 10-11-2010 01:44 AM

I love my samsung bluray player that streams netflix. for $130 I would say dollar for dollar best invest I ever made.

ContentPimp 10-11-2010 01:47 AM

i've been stuck at 42" for many years, and don't even watch TV all that often so its in the OFF mode more often than not :)

I prefer movies on the 500" screen at the theatre :D

Jarmusch 10-11-2010 01:47 AM

Congrats on getting the blue-ray torrent.

tom21220 10-11-2010 01:51 AM

Got a 40 inch LCD, use it only for Modern Warfare 2 (PS3) and watching HD movies and series.
As I sit only 1.5 meters from the TV, it is more than enough...
By the way I think I will cancel my TV subscription...

I had though about buying the projector, but they are only good in very dark rooms.

Amazing how some people in this business bitch about piracy then torrent movies. You couldn't afford $26?

ACTA has me scurrrred. I've been torrenting 5-10GB a day for the last week or so. Anything and everything I can get my hands on. Mostly TV episodes and movies. Stockpiling for the piracy apocalypse.. :1orglaugh

What you didn't like Doctor Eric Forman wandering through the forest with a scalpel?

Ramp 10-11-2010 05:29 AM

50" is quite enough for me. Unless my apartment would be WAY bigger I'd need bigger then too :D

GTS Mark 10-11-2010 05:35 AM

I thought predators was actually a half decent movie :-)

sgreen 10-11-2010 05:35 AM

plasmas aren't as good as LCDs and they consume much more power.

CPA37710T 10-11-2010 06:06 AM

Hey guys, whats the best quality blu rays out there?, ive ordered many on amazon and some are done in a very cheap way, the best picture quality i've gotten so far its with the Earth documental and the blue man group blu ray, the rest is all shit, what do you suggest?

IllTestYourGirls 10-11-2010 06:06 AM

So you could afford a 65" plasma, but not a $30 movie?

Phoenix 10-11-2010 06:24 AM

eh...my 50 incher is getting old...but still does the job

SBJ 10-11-2010 06:33 AM

I have a full hd projector and I love it! In AZ I had a 106" fixed screen but my apartment is smaller so I have a custom made 92" that is very nice for the size of the living room.

Rankings 10-11-2010 06:47 AM

love mine as well

Now This Is A Good Post!!! :pimp

Jim_Gunn 10-11-2010 08:40 AM

I love my 52" LCD HDTV. DirecTV high definition tv channels look great on it. I don't like plamsas though. They are like looking at tv through a glass window rather than looking directly at the picture elements on an LCD, which looks so much crisper to me. Plus my HDTV also works great as a monitor for my P4 media server when playing local video files or streaming internet videos.

42" here but don't really need any bigger. TV is shit anyway so i hardly watch anything as it is, usually only sports...

MetaMan 10-11-2010 08:49 AM

I have a projector and after seeing it in 1080p blu ray i will never go back to a TV again.

Projectors are where it is at. They smoke TVs.

Imax only for me. I can watch any other 'romance' or series on my 37" palsma, still regret I spent $700 for it, should have stayed with "21 LCD.

Plasmas are much better for watching movies.

On LCDs, motion blur is really bad (sports and fast paced movie scenes)

quiet 10-11-2010 09:17 AM

led all the way.

heymatty 10-11-2010 09:20 AM

I watch almost all tv /movies on my iMac now. Although its only 27in i'm sitting pretty damn close haha. I might need to pick up some external speakers for it.

MaDalton 10-11-2010 09:44 AM

my e-penis is 15"

JustDaveXxx 10-11-2010 10:03 AM

Mitsubishi 73" Diamond series, Bose Lifestyles 35 and a Blue Ray mail delivery movie subscription to Blockbusters 3 at a time Blue Rays for $19 a month.

No need to steal or download Torrents. Get all the Blue rays i want at a reasonable price every month.

flashfire 10-11-2010 10:12 AM

blew all his money on the tv but can't afford a bluray or even the rental cost

it's not about money or rental costs. it's just so much less hassle to fire up torrent client and have the movies auto-loaded to your NAS.

CYF 10-11-2010 10:19 AM

I still have a 27" tv. The big ones, not a flat panel.

I don't watch that much tv.

My Sharp Aquos LCD doesn't even have top of the line specs and I still don't notice any motion blur. True, I don't watch a lot of sports except for MMA, but everything in movies and regular tv shows looks good to me.

no on demand in your area?

CIVMatt 10-11-2010 12:32 PM

Also know as one of the worst movies ever attempted to be ported over to bluray

mynameisjim 10-11-2010 12:46 PM

I've got a plasma and and an LED, the LED just looks a little fake because it's almost too clear looking. I prefer the look of plasma, it looks sharp but still natural. It's a personal preference though.

Angry Jew Cat - Banned for Life 10-11-2010 12:57 PM

156 torrents in queue...

epitome 10-11-2010 12:58 PM

72" TV's are like $2,300 now, priced less than the 65" used to be.

Catch up man, catch up.

Anyway, back to my console with rabbit ears.

You have me beat by 10 inches.

I can not imagine being even remotely excited about buying a tv.
It must be the extra 16 inches
