So how has this epass situation affected you?

Fortunately I only had $31 in the Virtual Visa when this whole thing happened, but someone felt the need to pay me via Epass anyway this week (without even warning me, thank FUCK I had it set to go to the wallet) and I didn't have a bank account set up yet so I'm still waiting for that.

So now my mortgage is going to be 15 days late. How has this affected you?

MaDalton 09-09-2010 11:30 AM

more or less not at all - just a bit uncomfortable for some clients to pay now - epass was easier than a wire

IllTestYourGirls 09-09-2010 11:31 AM

It hasn't YET. But all my traffic buy money is in there and is due on the 15th. So my expenses may be theoretically double what they normally are this month.

lucPL 09-09-2010 11:31 AM

what epass situation ? something happened ? i'm reading this forum every day but didnt noticed anything :uhoh

Klen 09-09-2010 11:31 AM

As a result i had to request western union to be sended to me today.

seeandsee 09-09-2010 11:33 AM

very much, not because lost funds but epass was fastest way to get cash, now i need to wait for checks and banks

Cradle 09-09-2010 11:34 AM

big time, happened a day after loadedcash paid me and i didnt have time to get all the money out.

now the account is locked i guess because i added a checking account to request the wallet funds so no clue when or if it will ever get unlocked.

beta-tester 09-09-2010 11:35 AM

I of course don't relay only on epass and beside it I have other accounts and other cards, but a large chunk of my money is actually on my epass account which is bad. I don't care when the money will be available, because I'll survive. I just need to know that I'll be able to get it!!

Shap 09-09-2010 11:39 AM

I've wasted more time than I wanted to on GFY waiting for an update

YDG 09-09-2010 11:39 AM

We pay affiliates using Epass, Pay for content using Epass, pay for programmers using Epass, pay for everything whilst abroad using Epass ...

The list goes on and on

Its a major headache tbh.

kane 09-09-2010 11:43 AM

It is starting to become a real pain in my ass. I have some money in there that I would like to get at, not to mention I have a few different people who pay me for work via epass who now can't.

On top of all that, I log into my account today to see if there are any updates posted and now it tells me I have resubmit the same freaking documents I submitted a while back.

I luckily paid my hosting bill right before the accounts got locked.

I only have a couple hundred frozen right now, and it hasn't really affected me yet, but will if the money is gone or I need to find another payment method for next month's hosting bills.

Dating Port 09-09-2010 02:31 PM

No adverse effects yet. Only have one sponsor that can't pay me right now and I just set it to hold until they find another solution. Moving money is not a prob cause I have several accounts with several payment processors, bank accounts, and prepaid CCs. ACH will slow me down a bit but my payments are staggered enough for me not to notice too much. My only concern is I just Quit my job to do this full time and I hope my sponsors survive.

Yngwie 09-09-2010 02:36 PM

I only have like $1.30 in my epass accounts. (2 of them) The only way it affects me is now it will make getting my pay slower.. Instead of almost instant I have to wait to get a check and go cash it, but that's something I can handle.

Well in the past week, I've sold over 70 mainstream domains, not a single adult domain. The sad thing is I still take Epass for them since I can ACH from the Wallet, but I'm guessing just from the sheer amount of frozen funds in VV and people getting everything they can out of Wallet, Epass isn't viable to accept anymore. I'm guessing this affected a lot of businesses simply in that it took away the most used payment option for many in adult.

iSpyCams 09-09-2010 02:45 PM

I thought I would be completely unaffected, since I dont use epass.

But obviously since epass is an important part of the adult industry food chain I was sure there would be little issues. (big issues for others, that are small for me because the effect is indirect)

However, I recently discovered that my youngest brother has been secretly running a stable of cam-whores over in the Philippines and got caught with over 12,000 in his Epass virtual Visa.

So now it's a family issue and I am of course expected to float him some cash while everything is worked out.

FreeHugeMovies 09-09-2010 02:49 PM

None at all. I don't live pay check to pay check and don't rely on one source of income to make a living.

TrainWreckContent 09-09-2010 02:50 PM

yeah i would like to get at the money i have in there...the biggest impact is just some customers could only pay epass now they have to do bank wires which costs them and me because both banks charge his for sending and mine for receiving

NaughtyRob 09-09-2010 04:12 PM

Fortunately I only had $14 in virtual visa.
It has lost me a few high $ deals because companies have funds frozen, however it has also gotten me new clients that may not have been buying but wanted to use the epass funds they had stuck in the wallet.

Are you using Epass as your actual bank account?

fucked up my server and domain payments a bit...
now it's harder to pay or to get paid for various services (like grunt work, article writing, domains, hardlinks, etc...)

digi 09-09-2010 06:49 PM

not too much, I get a majority of payments via checks so I have no problems paying bills etc. I do have thousands in my virtual visa that I obviously want to be able to withdraw.. but its not a life or death situation

Seth Manson 09-09-2010 07:01 PM

I've found quite a few threads about it on GFY to be very entertaining, but other than that it hasnt affected me at all. I was smart enough to never get an epassporte account.

Epassporte is not a bank and when you put your money there, its all at risk. If you're going to use it to transfer money, put your money back into your bank account (not your epassporte wallet, dumbass) and keep as low of a balance there as possible. If use PayPal you should do the same thing. They make money off of doing the transfer for you and you're not doing yourself any favors by keeping your money in their uninsured accounts. I wonder why anyone would even keep more than a couple hundred dollars there in the first place. Your money would be safer kept in a sock in your closet.

I hope you guys get your money back and I really hope you learn from this.

Spunky 09-09-2010 07:03 PM

Just getting paid by cheque and waiting a little longer for my loot

istinspring 09-09-2010 07:04 PM

i can't afford to pay my bills because all my funds was on visa virtual. =(
it's not big money but i actually need it after summer period, and more actual question how do i receive payments now, when ePassporte fucked and all hope was lost?

No direct effect.

I'm concerned about yet another reputation hit to the payment industry servicing the adult.

Although the epass issue isn't directly related to card processing the payment industry supporting this business already has an iffy reputation (sometimes deservedly) and issues like this damage legitimate service providers and consultants.

CC 09-09-2010 07:05 PM

Luckily not as badly as iBill did. That was killer....it didn't ruin me financially, but man is it painful to lose tens of thousands of dollars to a bunch of crooks!! Luckily, I didn't lose as much this time around (and I am considering the money that is stuck on my virtual visa to be gone forever at this point....it's easier for me to move on mentally that way). I still hate losing money though. UGH. UGH. UGH.
