Do you have confidence in epassporte?

Do you have confidence that epassporte will be back the same as ever and that your funds are safe?

Toma 09-06-2010 11:33 AM

one more epass thread... fire away :D

chronig 09-06-2010 11:34 AM

My honest opinion is that it will take a minimum of 6 months for *any* funds to be released, or they won't be released period :disgust

I looked for a Yes or No poll, to see if there was a general consensus on the topic. Since there wasn't one yet, I thought I'd create one.

Toma 09-06-2010 11:36 AM

actually when i clicked first time there was no poll option...

now it makes more sense ;)

Vick! 09-06-2010 11:37 AM

I do.

He have a nearly ideal business model up and running (at least until few days back), 99% chances are he won't ruin it.

I am certain he would resolve it.

2intense 09-06-2010 11:47 AM

50% yes and 50% no

notime 09-06-2010 11:53 AM

I have a gut feeling it will land on it's feet and all will be ok. If I was epassorte, I would fight to the death to keep this easy and brilliant system alive, next to the good revenues it should bring forth.

But new international (and upcoming) laws and rules dictated from various governments in ACTA countries have to implemented perhaps, to stay compliant with the latest (IRS) compliancy rules I expect for the near future (for ANY debit/credit facility online, not just epassporte).

Not to mention the competition, that is out to get them. They are having a field day for sure. Sooner or later, even the competition will have to meet up with the ever changing goverments dictated compliance rules.

Argos88 09-06-2010 12:02 PM

Most people here answer "YES", not because they really have confidence, BUT because they have "hope" that their money will be recovered... But they know, the situation looks like irreversible at this point.

Man, you must be plain stupid to be a gallery submitter and have 10K in epass... a real idiot can only do something like that in year 2010.

.

My best educated guess would be: "Know your customer". A new thing dictated by many goverments towards ANY financial institutions like banks, creditcard companies, mortgage companies, etc.

I had to send my copy ID to epass a while ago. Then the banks I use wanted to see me in their office with my drivers license and passport for identifiction (after 25 years of using the same bank...). Also Mastercard and Visa asked me to to that and even send a copy of the company ownership regarding shares / notary office papers behind the company registration in the chamber of commerce. I had no problems with that at all but it was some work to copy paperwork and send it to them.

i agree. there was a huge push for the DOJ for voluntary compliance with know your customer regs for prepaid card companies over the summer. the deadlines were about the same time as the epass shut down.

CaptainHowdy 09-06-2010 12:36 PM

Yes . . .

Brujah 09-06-2010 12:37 PM

I can't remember paypal ever asking for my drivers license, a copy of a utility statement or other, etc... Do any of you?

Jarmusch 09-06-2010 12:38 PM

Why wouldn't we have confidence in them? Are they having some kind of problem?

I dont know all this bullshit coming from Usa lawmakers and as result all epass users need to follow it.

Gordon1 09-06-2010 12:40 PM

interesting pool results.

I just know what goes on in The Netherlands with "Know your customer".
Two of my best friends are bank managers involved in those local projects in management, next to my own experiences. Why should it be different in other western countries?
1+1=2 IMO

Paypal gladly takes my money when it hits 10K or if I want to withdraw it to my bank because I do adult...funny thing is..I selected the "I do adult" select box when I signed up long ago...twice!

6 months of FREE intrest points for my blocked paypal money (twice in a row the last years), before I could withdraw my adult money...:upsidedow
I am most sure "double standard" Paypal did not mind it at all...banks charge/or give a lot more the 0% I got from them.

CYF 09-06-2010 01:06 PM

I'm not that confident that I'll see my money again, but I picked yes anyways. Call it wishful thinking, maybe.

Arnox 09-06-2010 01:12 PM

Yeah, they'll pull through.

Porko 09-06-2010 01:13 PM

Yes I do. Itīs a serious company.

chronig 09-06-2010 01:14 PM

YES is winning! Need more naysayers for NO to catch up.

fatfoo 09-06-2010 01:17 PM

I do believe money is safe with epassporte.
Be careful about paypal - people can send payments and then reverse payments (for no good reason).

Good advice from chronig. Some people say, "I don't do drugs - just weed."

DaddyHalbucks 09-06-2010 01:21 PM

I am going to deposit all of federally insured bank money... on my virtual credit card.

NOT.

Ditto. I'm inclined to think that they will be back and that almost everyone will get their money (whether it takes a month or six months, no idea) but I'm thinking that there are going to be some major changes.

I'm also noticing a pattern of adult related businesses getting a lot more attention from the authorities and I think it will only get worse. I believe there are potentially other major players who are going to get hit as well (for different reasons). Those in the gray areas so to speak on things are at risk, even if they've been doing things that way for a long time. :2 cents:

yup, I had to on two occasions - once for my private PP account, because that hit some fund limit or something, another one to open a PP business account.

On both occasions, I sent them the minimum required followed up with a call and the accounts were cleared within 1hour.

I don't expect anything less for any accountable institute these days, and I've nothing to fear by sending those details in (so much as I 'trust' those companies not to abuse the personal details I send in).

However, I've never opened an ePass account, since I've never trusted a company that's incorporated in a country where it doesn't do its primary business. At least PayPal is incorporated as a bank in my country, and so has to abide by my country's banking laws (which includes guaranteeing my funds)

--edit
PP isn't incorporated as a bank in my country, but in the EU (incorporated bank in Ireland), so it has to abide by EU banking regulations

Agree with that 100% :thumbsup

Magix 09-06-2010 02:24 PM

I think history repeats itself from time to time and 5 years is a long time for webmasters forget what happened to one company....
Sure I would love to have my funds back, but it just happened to soon to fast...NO warning no nothing...
Do you imagine this happening to any legitimate bank ? No warning from Visa ( hey guys clean your mess up or we will, ya know shut you down )..

And one more thing just hit my mind, NO official statement from Visa. "Well epass is maybe not the biggest client of Visa, but I'm sure they are not smallest...and when you doing something like this at least an official statement should be announced...

lagcam 09-06-2010 02:32 PM

I think it will survive but will have to change in the way it operates..... such as removing a lot of the anonymity some people presently enjoy and limiting the balance that can be held on the virtual card.

Neither of which I would have a problem with.

they did once I had more than 1k in my account.

Tippy 09-06-2010 02:42 PM

PP has served my needs over the past 8 years as I only buy and sell names, I've only run into a few clients which requested to pay via eP, I was thinking about setting up an account but now I am thinking not. This will certainly hurt, having your dirty laundry spilled all over the internet isn't good for biz even if its all lies.

Good luck to them, big/large companies have fallen in the past so size doesnt matter.
