Some black actor is being pushed for the role of spider-man.. hey I was all for Obama.. didnt care what color he was.. the best man for the job (or so it seemed).. but I grew up reading comic books and watching shows and movies with a white Spiderman.. and white presidents.. Black folk would be FUCKING OUTRAGED if a white guy was gonna take over for some famous traditional black role.. imagine Jim Carrey taking over for a new Cosby show with him cast in Billy Cosby's place.... !! Too much hypocrisy out there. Any other white guys here like Kool and the Gang? What black person would want Axl Rose to sing for them? Or see Snow or Eminem take over Ice Cubes new role on TV?

Asian and Persian folks are pissed that the Prince of Persia was cast with predominately white people in the main roles.. parents would like their children to relate to those characters of their own race.. Hollywood-ized and Whitewashed.. so typical of hollywood to do that..

thats where i agree with you. just leave it alone. i'm not a overly-critical comic geek, but i do like the movie remakes to remain as true to the originals as possible.

black spidey would be 'cute' but i wouldn't enjoy it fully. wouldn't be able to see past the gimmick angle

Spiderman should always be white. However the green lantern is supposed to be black and look how they play with that character. So I say fuck it. Make spidey a Negro.

It wouldn't surprise me. Marvel has has already turned a white character from the comic book into a black character for the movie adaptation. In the Daredevil movie, the Kingpin was black.

FYI, the original hulk wasn't green, but gray in Incredible Hulk #1-6 (1962). The original Iron Man was wasn't red & gold, but gray in Tales of Suspense #39 (1963). And Peter Parker was named Peter Palmer in Amazing Spider-Man #1 (1963).

Actually the Green Lantern involved a lot of people, not just Hal Jordan. But Hal was most definitely white.
