Safe & Fast way to lose 30 pounds?

Looking for ideas on losing 30 pounds rather quickly.

Am currently doing my treadmill at Elev 7 and speed 3.5 for about 30 minutes a day. Have stopped all soda, all sugar treats etc.

Ideas?

hypedough 05-14-2010 01:23 AM

Eat less exercise more. You're welcome.

papill0n 05-14-2010 01:42 AM

you dont want to do it quickly you want to do it at the rate your body can handle it

all you have to do is eat less shit, eat less of it and gradually increase exercise

raven1083 05-14-2010 01:43 AM

Chopping one of your legs off is the fastest way to lose 30 pounds.

Have a certified doctor do it so that it's safe.

NetHorse 05-14-2010 05:22 AM

Keto diet, H.I.T. training, weight training and A LOT of discipline. Forget all the supplements for now, just concentrate on your diet / training routine. When you've seen good progress then you can explore the world of supplements to lose those last pounds.

Your diet is the most important thing and you'll have to cut back on the calories significantly and drink LOTS of (and only) water--lemon or lime added as flavor. No alcohol, no soda, no coffee, just water. It's simple math. I don't know how much soda or sugar treats you took in previously but I'll assume 300 calories in soda and 400 calories in sugar treats. Removing those cuts 700 calories per day. To lose 30 pounds you'll have to burn 30*3500=105,000 more calories than you take in, which at a 700 calorie deficit it'd take 150 days which is probably too long for you.

Do it in steps, though. For instance, for the first week remove the bullshit like soda, cakes, candy bars, etc. and replace them with fruits/vegetable, get more fiber than sugar. Then the next week, cut about 500 calories/day (if you can) and so on until you are at around 1500 calories/day. 1200-1500 calories doesn't sound like a lot but if you eat more nutritious foods that are high in fiber you'll find that your body uses those 1200-1500 calories MUCH more than a 2k+ calorie big meal (like fast food, a lot of restaurants, etc.). Keep your metabolism going by eating more times (but fewer calories) throughout the day. One meal might be some oatmeal and an apple, a few hours later maybe a banana and some almonds.

To sum it up, if you can create a 1500 calorie deficit per day through proper diet and exercise, you can lose 30 pounds in about 70 days. It also depends on how much 30 pounds is to you. If you're 40 pounds over weight, then it will be a lot harder than if you are 100 pounds over weight.

I'm currently trying to get back in shape for summer. Here's what works for me...

1. No sugar

2. Lots of water(preferably ice, burns more calories).

3. Make breakfast the biggest meal and taper the size down from there. Small snacks between meals are ok as long as they are healthy.

4. Buy double-fiber bread that Arnold makes. Extra fiber can't hurt. I have a slice dipped in olive oil as a snack a couple times a day.

Here's the biggest thing that always kicks my fat burning into high gear. There's something about doing 2 cardio/exercise sessions per day that gets my metabolism going. I do about 20 minutes in the morning upon rising, then another session sometime later in the day -- maybe longer, maybe shorter, but cut your daily exercise into 2 parts.

Jumping rope and hitting a heavy bag will kill your ass. I recommend including that.

DirtyDanza 05-14-2010 09:16 AM

I can cut 30 lbs in a weekend no prob....

cut all salt from your diet and overdose on water like 1-2 gal a day you be fine... and break your meals down to 6 meals a day

Do not look for a quick fix. It has to be a lifestyle change to stick.

Though a simple dietary change you can make is to cut out all high fructose corn syrup from your diet. Start by doing just that for 30 days. You WILL see a difference. Read labels too because HFCS is in a lot of foods and drinks.

seeandsee 05-14-2010 09:22 AM

protein diet with gym 3-4 time a week and running 30 minutes a day (no on Sundays). Will get sliced in 2 months

This is an important point....I lost 25 pounds last summer and I was doing cardio in the morning and weights three times a week in the evenings....I cut most of my alcohol but still drank a lot of water and a good amount of juice...

That's when I'm in Ohio for the Summer....When I'm in Wisconsin during the school year, I've lost around 10 pounds and a couple more inches off of my waist....But here I drink more (tipsy on red wine now), and I eat a little more.....But I only workout once a day for at least an hour and every day includes both cardio and strength training....I'm looking forward to the Summer so I can get back to my Mama's house and drop these last 20 pounds...

Also, I don't agree on the bread thing...I buy two big Telera Rolls every day from the grocery store to eat....I've lost a pound and a half this week, broke my distance record on the treadmill, and made strength gains in the weightroom...

all QFT.

i lost 30 pounds b/w nov 17th and jan 17th by simply cutting daily cals to 1000-1200, no exercise except a short walk daily. i found it easier to figure out daily calories with just a diet only approach, it's difficult to figure out the cal deficit of exercise enough at that level to make a difference. bottomline- burn more calories than you consume and you will lose weight.

1. never eat more than a fistful of any type of food. so keep meals to fistful of chicken, fistful of brown rice and vegetables. eat 3 meals a day, with 2-3 snacks (vegetables + fruits) in between those meals. though i recommend limit your fruit intake because there's many natural sugars in them. and most importantly eat natural. if it wasnt living at one point - either animal of plant, don't eat it. it's the processed garbage, that comes in boxes and packages that makes people fat and disgusting.

2. start sweating. that means at least 40 minutes of cardio to start burning fat. then do some weight training. the muscles you develop will burn fat while you sleep. there's tons of methods that work. most important is something that you can do consistently. try 6 days a week and when you reach your goal you can cut back.

3. get 8 hours of sleep. Sleep helps you grow muscles and you'll be ready to go energy wise when you do exercise.

i train natural so only thing i recommend is maybe slip in a protein shake right after your workout if you can't eat right away. food is always better. though i workout for size(240lbs, 6ft), most important thing is diet and workout consistently. and don't worry about how others look, there's always the douche bags that take steroids and they have their own fucked up insecurities. Your mind and attitude is your biggest asset in reaching your fitness goal.

I found the best way to consume larger amounts of water is to vary the types.

Have a bottle of sparkling S. Pellegrino with dinner/lunch. Have bottled water with lemon.
Have a glass of tap water every couple of hours. Make water more interesting and drinking large amounts becomes second nature. :2 cents:

agreed. also, it's important to note that it is EXTREMELY dangerous to go from drinking a little water a day to 2 gallons without scaling up. people have died from that.

If you're thinking of calories, remember (or be aware) that the US FDA rules allow any product with 2 or less calories to call itself "zero calories".

I know it's probably very small number, but I use a handful of splenda packs per day in my coffee it seems, and instead of 0 calories like advertised, it's really 2 calories per pack.

Just figure everything that says 0 is really 2 and no problems.

INDY500DRIVER 05-14-2010 11:58 AM

I did HCG (not HGH) and lost 25 pounds in 3 weeks (195 to 170) without exercising and have kept it off with a healthier diet.. not crazy healthy, but just moderation.

HCG is a hormone that pregnant women release when they start to starve... it is the bodies natural defense against starvation of the baby in utero.. it activates the hypothalimus.. (i think) to automaticaly start metabolizing fat to burn calories and keep the baby and mom fed..

You can get it online, but i suggest going to a nutririonist to get it. comes in multiple forms.. pill, drops on tongue, or shots injected into the fatty area of your stomach.. needles used are insulin injections so the needle is only half an inch long.. I suggest the needle as none is wasted on oral injection and going through the digestive system..

You do it in a 3 or 5 week cycle along with a calorie deduction of only 500 calories per day.. eating only 3.5 oz of lean protein and 3.5 ounces of a veggie per meal, twice a day..

Dont think you are starving yourself because you are actually metabolizing 2500 per day once it kicks in after the second or thrid day.. You wont be hungry at all as some may think.. And it is not a starvation diet because your body is metabolizing 500 calories of food and 2000 of fat... Working out and training on it is perfectly safe and will increase results... but you should already be workign out or training before you start it if you plan on doing so...

SO you dont put it back on after losing the weight just maintain a somewhat healthy diet and cut out soda...

i intake ~40 grams fiber daily, all from natural sources- fruit, grains etc. minimum usrda allowance is 30g daily.

If you want to lose weight quicker, you have to get less calories every day. Exercising on the treadmill burns calories. 3500 calories burned = 1 pound of fat loss. The calculation might look something like this (assuming 2000 calories a day keeps your weight the same)(the less you weigh yourself, the less your daily dose of calories is):

If your daily dose to maintain weight is 2000 CAL:

Day 1 Eaten: 1500 CAL Burned on treadmill: 300 Calories lost: 800
Day 2 Eaten: 1200 CAL Burned on treadmill: 300 Calories lost: 1100
Day 3 Eaten: 1200 CAL Burned on treadmill: 300 Calories lost: 1100
Day 4 Eaten: 1200 CAL Burned on treadmill: 300 Calories lost: 1100
Day 5 Eaten: 1200 CAL Burned on treadmill: 300 Calories lost: 1100

Total Calories lost after 5 days: 5200 CALORIES = 1.48 Pounds of fat loss

This is advice from one of the fat men who wants to be not fat anymore.

iSpyCams 05-15-2010 04:50 AM

Yesterday I had a fever of 104 and this morning I am still in the 101-102 range. I imagine if I can keep this up for awhile I'll lose some weight...
