Over the past 1,100 years, Eyjafjallajökull has erupted four times: in 920, 1612, between 1821?1823, and in 2010

Overcast. They're saying it's not really visibla as it has dispersed too much.

emjay 04-15-2010 06:43 AM

All UK airspace now closed until 0700 tomorrow at the earliest, airline movement can be tracked here www.flightradar24.com

So, that's two historic things happening in UK today - the other being Britain's first ever prime ministerial TV debate :smokin

Quagmire 04-15-2010 07:11 AM

I farted once and caused all planes to be grounded.

Hysterical fuss on the radio earlier to the point where I was expecting a repeat of Pompei. It's now gone from gloomy outside to bright sunshine. Bit of a let down.

I think it is the Gods telling the politicians not to fly to the debate tonight.

Or the Gods were trying to catch the politicians midflight.

I was going to make a joke about how there could be worse things but after what happened in Poland this week maybe not.

How bad is the flooding in Iceland? Since the volcano is under ice it is flooding parts of Iceland but from the National Geographic photos it looks pretty remote - http://news.nationalgeographic.com/n...00_600x450.jpg

It really is weird here today though. We live on both the London City Airport and Heathrow Airport flight paths. It is so quiet out there tonight.

lol the silence must be deafening Sarah. My Mum used to live in Richmond in Heathrow's path, the noise there really used to piss me off but she was so used to it she did not really notice it...

My dogs have been barking at birds all day. I don't think they can usually hear them.

www.flightradar24.com but the site is getting a lot of traffic at the moment and doesn't always load.

I don't know their criteria for having flights on there so I don't know how accurate it is.

You might see this instead: kopplingen misslyckades :)

Or today...

http://www.adultcontent.nl/flights.jpg

That is costing each airline 5 to 10 million in loss per day....
Each country has many airlines, look at how many countries have no planes in the air the last 48 hours....
Boy that sums up quite a loss here.

Rentalcars are now hard to get and if you find any, they go for 1K per day....

emjay 04-17-2010 04:43 AM

A radar image shows the crater, which looks like the nightmarish face painted by Edvard Munch Read

That's an option indeed. Will take forever to get there from Holland (and back).
I prefer a 2 hour flight more :winkwink:
