"Fugitive" David Stodghill arrested in Los Angeles
 

David Stodghill was captured in the Los Angeles area Monday night, the Shippensburg Sentinel is reporting.

Last Friday, Stodghill "was not located when Los Angeles police, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents and federal marshals descended on a Caheunga Boulevard residence in the city."

According to a criminal docket dated January 29th, 2010, David Manning Stodghill was charged with the following acts in Shippensburg, PA:

Aggravated Indecent Assault with a person under the age of 13, Indecent Assault with a person under the age of 13, and Corruption of Minors.

If convicted or he pleads guilty to either indecent assault charge, Stodghill would need to also register as a sex offender. (there is debate as to if Stodghill should already need to be registered as a sex offender based on previous convictions). The Aggravated Indecent Assault Charge would carry a five year minimum sentence.

"Fugitive David Stodghill is in custody of law enforcement officers in California, says Sgt. Jonathan Mays of Pennsylvania state police at Carlisle.

Mays says he was notified by e-mail early this morning (Tuesday) that Stodghill was captured in the Los Angeles area Monday night.

Mays says it is unclear at this time what police agency took the 37-year-old former Cumberland County resident into custody.

Los Angeles police, U.S. Marshals and Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents raided Stodghill’s apartment on Caheunga Boulevard in the city Friday night, but Stodghill eluded the raid.

State police at Carlisle obtained an arrest warrant for Stodghill earlier Friday on charges of sexually molesting a 12-year-old girl in June 2009. That warrant triggered the Los Angeles raid.

Stodghill came to the attention of police in Shippensburg last summer when he made contacts in the community about producing a film in Shippensburg that would bring Hollywood celebrities to town and utilize local fire apparatus.

Shippensburg Police Chief Fred Scott issued a warning then that Stodghill’s claims were bogus, and that he was known in law enforcement circles as a “habitual liar.”"

He also created numerous online accounts posing as Julianna, her family, and friends, obtaining private photographs and detailed personal information.

He evaded a warrant from PA for years regarding previous convictions and charges, and left PA again after being charged with marijuana possession and harrassment. Considering the charges now are larger than any of the previous ones, I think he's a poster model for flight risk.
