I didn't vote for him so my expectations were low and so far he hasn't disappointed..

Loch 10-22-2009 07:47 PM

I see that you are from Canada,so you might not realize that President Bush served 8 years and was not in the last election.

DaddyHalbucks 10-22-2009 07:50 PM

Obama is a tyrant.

Tired of car threads.. And it was a question to the board. I recall last fall that Obama fever ran high here on GFY and now that it's been nearly a year it's time to really begin to evaluate the man. Has he delivered?

Spunky 10-22-2009 07:56 PM

He seems like a cool cat, although I'm in Canada and our Prime minister is a clown

HandballJim 10-22-2009 07:56 PM

Not happy, he talks in circles and makes everything sound so great. He keeps saying the recession is over...not sure what the fuck country he is living in?

It is the future. It's been a year.
He has done things,he has tried to do things. Are those things what people expected? Are the people that voted for him still enthused about him?

is it snowing in wisconsin? you must be bored. why not go for a drive in one of your supercars? or maybe hop in your airplane and go for a nice cruise. or give away packers season tickets for the next game to a nice soul. you could even buy a new piece of art, have the garage remodeled.

or perhaps call your partners across the pacific and talk shop, maybe even fire a VP or buy one a corvette and come here and tell us about any of the above

but threads like this are for the gfy sohpmores, of which you are not.

either way, i still like ya.

he put my kids that are not born yet in dept, and a national health care system will never work in this country unless it is slowly put in place. People see free healthcare and they will bleed the system for every last penny. :2 cents:

1 year is nothing at all with what has to battle with "you know that Minte" :)

But as i said i doubt anyone anywhere have their ponpons out anymore.
People thought he would be aggressive and well he has shown the opposite....

The biggest thing the guy has done was get elected, its stopped people and made them think.....

At the end of the day though its politics, puppets, mayority rule from within, curroption etc etc

We know you are all worried about it :)
While the rest of the modern world is having a glass of wine not thinking or worrying about it as they made the move decades ago.....

BFT3K 10-22-2009 08:19 PM

I voted for him, and I supported his campaign. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

I'm not happy about how he's handled a few things so far, but compared to the asswipes that were at the helm for the past 8 years, he's a breath of fresh air!

your kids were already in debt and the middle class was destoyed a long time ago, certainly you can figure that out on your own.

the longer a president stays in office the slower he got things done thus the more time he needed to get them done.

Even if Obama does NOTHING he's going to be better than the retard we had for the last 8 years.

yeah, mission accomplished wasting billions of dollars and american lives..

i voted for obama, first time since i voted for ross perot.. last time i will ever vote...

the govt is so corrupt now as a whole it doesnt matter republican or democrat..

mark my words, you aint seen nothin yet..

and for the last time.. national healthcare is about funding a bankrupt medicare and medicaid system, it has nothing to do with providing health care to everyone..

i wish the govt would just come out and say it..

cykoe6 10-22-2009 08:50 PM

I expected him to be a disaster but I could not have imagined how frighteningly incompetent he has turned out to be. An unmitigated catastrophe. :disgust

bad_influence 10-22-2009 08:54 PM

Considering the choice we had. I am very happy to have him as President.

He hasn't let an attack happen on US soil that's killed around 3000 people yet. He's kept us safer than Bush and Cheney. :upsidedow

He's made steps to do things he promised in the election. He's reevaluated some of his older positions, he's opened up diplomatic channels where none or small ones existed before. Change takes time and he's careful and well reasoned about what he does and why.

Me and most people I know are still very enthusiastic about him and what he has already and intends to accomplish in the future. Despite what Limbaugh would have you believe no one thought he would wave a magic change wand and everything would be different overnight. I'm very confident in his approach to things and his ability to learn from history and his predecessors' mistakes.

It'll be a while till he can dig us out from the shitstorm he was left with, but he's off to a good start. One of the ways you can gauge his efficacy is by the irrational venom the fringe right wing(mainstream america according to fox news) spews at him for every tiny thing he does.

Worthless.... The only dam thing he has done is pacify the pussies in europe and uber left and create a hollywood image of america abroad. But just like most hollywood stars they are worthless when it comes to reality.

The world wants everyone to come together and work on issues together but when it comes to actually doing something they don't do shit.

He hasn't had new material in at least the past 10 years. I see no reason for him to change now.

I hate to break this to you, but the REAL truth is... OBAMA WON! Now it's your turn to be pissed off for 4 to 8 years. Get used to it :winkwink:

After Shock Media 10-22-2009 09:39 PM

I was not an Obama fanatic, just given the choices he is whom I backed.
I have my issues with him and some things he either has not done or has not started yet.

I am not an Obama basher like many who hated him before he was even a contender and were already going to hate anyone on that side who won either way. Plus everything that Obama in this instance inherited would of course be his issue, his fault, etc. This includes clean up costs.

I do see that he does take his time when he can on many issues and does not rush in to tackle many of the short fuse issues who's time is just not ready yet for where he is at. So I get why he is not hitting a few of the smaller issues, they would go crazy and consume his time as president if he touched them right now.

He also seems to like to get as much information and research as possible before doing anything drastic such as putting troops into harms way. I am also OK with a president who can and does change their minds. One that does not change their minds scare me.

He tried to rush health care and that backfired like it should have. He already knows slow and steady wins the race. He was just amped and listened to the wrong people about hitting while the proverbial iron was hot - was the wrong info.

The money spent does not super bother me. Well I am a little bitchy about the corporate welfare that he had to finish or at least add to.

Just looking at his list of shit to deal with, not even including any future shit and holy fuck. Who in their right mind would even want to tackle that as a job? Then if they did, does anyone really think they could handle it all and not make mistakes?
Shit that job already age's the fuck out of people. Look at the pictures of assorted presidents from when they take office until they leave. Even the 4 year ones.

Exactly. Like I said, Lesson learned from Clinton and how bogged down he got with his charge through approach to health care and the DADT bullshit.
