What The ?????????????????????

I just love spending thousands of dollars to produce content and then see it used this way without my knowledge, without my approval and without a license. It's really sad that theft plays such a big role in our industry. :Oh crap

What I would REALLY love is for the folks who used it to step up and do the right thing.

First, remove all their advertising that contains images that they don't have a license to use. Secondly, send me a check for their usage of my content without my permission and without a license. And lastly, fire the asshole who thought it would be ok to use pictures that he didn't have a license to use for an advertising campaign.

Of course this "is" the adult industry so I won't hold my breath that any of those things will actually happen :thumbsup

Dean, you really do need a better thread title for this issue/case.

I sent out a few emails (one to Sharky) already. But I wanted to post this here because I'm pissed the fuck off about this...and I wanted people to see it.

Pretty much every ad I see on tube sites is built with stolen content I recognize. It's so sad these guys can't even bother to buy one set of photos to make creatives with even though they are getting a free ride on stolen content to build their traffic. Honestly, what does 1 set of photos cost these days?......$20

Pretty sad.

CaptainHowdy 04-26-2009 06:21 PM

Everyone knows that I dont sell content and I dont buy content so I know NOTHING about the licenses and stuff but I am curious about something....when someone buys content (especially from the high end guys like Dean) do they have to buy a *different* license to use it in an advertisement? Does a site pay MORE money for content that will be used in advertising? What if they are buying it as an exclusive deal?

Just curious. Call me the content idiot ;)

MattJustin 04-26-2009 07:49 PM

as I said in the other thread.. we will get to the bottom of this ASAP..

I will also have the banner changed first thing tomorrow...

One would almost think so but typically that is not how it works. I think "demand" and close to impossible enforcement killed that idea.

Typically when you buy exclusive, you get any and all rights so you can do whatever you want with it.

Manowar 04-26-2009 07:57 PM

Dean, you have ICQ

If a client hires me to produce material for him - he owns the content and can do whatever he wants to do with it. If a client licenses content from me that I produced myself, he has limited usage rights which are spelled out in my terms of usage agreement. None of the content that I produce myself has been licensed to anyone for use with (or to promote) dating sites.

MrCodey 04-26-2009 07:59 PM

Why do you have to attack pierre and not just post the image?
I'd be pissed if i was ampland or hoes.com as well as oeople get the wrong idea when you do shit like this, let alone al4a

Nobody has any reason to be pissed at me... for anything. I'm the only one who has a reason to be pissed. My work was used without my permission and without a license. Work that cost me a lot of money to produce. Chill out.......

LiveDose 04-26-2009 08:11 PM

It's frustrating beyond belief to have content that you've produced used without permission or fees paid.

I feel your pain Dean.

You need to clearify who is in the wrong.. People look at the blue page and get the wrong idea.. Being angry is not an excuse for being lazy.

I don't think anyone got the wrong idea but you. It's pretty clear what the situation is.

First of all - I don't need to clarify anything. I haven't pointed any fingers because I don't know all the parties involved and I don't know who is to blame. Hopefully the offending party will step up and do the right thing. Time will tell -

And posting a screen cap was more work then linking to a banner so fuck you for calling me lazy :thumbsup

MrCodey 04-26-2009 08:32 PM

well i guess you didnt read the copyright notice at the bottom of the page making you now just as guilty :1orglaugh

That makes perfect sense to me. Is it possible that the person who made the ad actually licensed the content from you for one of their normal sites or something and then it got used for the ad accidentally? Yes, I know that still makes it wrong...but at least the intent would not have been as malicious as if they had just right clicked on one of your pics they saw on another site.

You know me...I always try to see the good in people and I always hope that it was truly just an accident or something.

It's bad enough that they used my work without my knowledge, without my permission and without a license. But to then tell me that it would be taken care of immediately and 4 days later...it's still up there?

That's a big FUCK YOU to the Deanster it sounds like to me :Oh crap

It's quite obvious that he's not attacking pierre or his sites. On first glance I knew right away the problem Dean has is with Hornymatches and their banner designer, not al4a/ampland.

I'm tempted to add a "duh" to that but I won't. :D

Btw my second thought on first viewing this thread was --- what, hornymatches.com doesn't have any of their own content good enough to make banners with? I find that hard to believe.

I just sent PimpMansion a bill for image theft and unlicensed usage. If they have any morals at all, they'll pay the invoice immediately and cease using any and all of my content that is in their possession. I think the going rate now for copyright infringement of an image is something like $150K per image. I hope it doesn't get to that point....

WDG 04-30-2009 08:49 PM

Best of luck Dean.

Some prick ripped an entire site of mine recently, I know the feeling all too well.

Miguel T 04-30-2009 09:28 PM

Why is it taking so long for PimpMansion to right this obvious wrong?

Anyone?

Their program looks good, and I've actually had them bookmarked and on my "to promote soon" list but as it stands with this thread I wouldn't touch them with my ten foot pole.

Hey Dean,

I'm not sure why this wasn't removed the other day when I requested it to be. I'm looking into this now and will have it corrected today. You have my number, don't be afraid to use it:-)

fris 05-01-2009 08:19 AM

let me guess its the designers fault?

fatfoo 05-01-2009 09:05 AM

Yeah, it's that content stealing... Problematic isn't it.

mpahlca 05-01-2009 09:31 AM

They blamed the desinger in our case and it was never taken down they just stopped responding. :(
