Simple htaccess Question
I am working on some blogs, and for the permalinks you need to have
htaccess file set permissions (this I know how to do in FTP) PHAT tells me I just have to create a file named htaccess and upload it to the server for that domain. So I am guessing I just use notepad, save a blank file, name it htaccess and upload it then?? I am guessing no extension? |
This question is too hard for me. Maybe someone else can help...

Its .htaccess. (Dot before htaccess)
Also a dot as the first character in the filename makes it hidden. So don't freeak out if you don't see the file. You can list it with a "-a" option. |
you are correct BF
upload a text file and name it .htaccess once its uploaded |
Yes, make a file in notepad and save it. Then rename the file ".htaccess" do not include the quotes and make sure the file is not named .htaccess.txt
|
If it's wordpress, it should be generated automatically..

Ah ok. Just wanted to ask and make sure.
Normally I leave all the tech stuff (even simple things) up to PHAT or the coder-designer. In this particular case, I was having some trouble understanding (the simplicity) to it. I wanted to know how to do it myself to avoid delays with PHAT, and because of the bigger scope of things to do the blog installations, and so on. Thanks fine chappies. :thumbsup |

My guess is something to do with permissions, so manually needs to be done for the blog(s). |
