Drunk Lady Broke in My House

At approximately 4:15am, I awake to hear my white shih tzu, Isaiah, barking terribly. I shush him twice.

Then I hear someone talking to my dogs. I freeze. Lock my bedroom door. Put on clothes, turn all my bedroom lights off… Then I see two feet under my door and my bedroom door starts to shake… I grab my cell phone and go hide in my master bath/closet…

.. ..

I hear my dogs continue to jump on and off whoever is out there.. I’m talking to 911… and I hear a female voice continue to talk to my dogs.. Then no noise at all.

.. ..

The police arrive within 2-3 minutes. I hear the announcement of, “Police…”

.. ..

I come out… and this blonde woman is telling the cop, “This is my sister’s house…”

.. ..

I tell the cop, this is NOT my sister. It is NOT my sister.

.. ..

He grabs the lady and leads her out front.

.
.. ..

.. ..

An older officer, Mr. xxx comes to my door and asks if I’ve been outside. I say, no.

.. ..

I go look. There’s a Hyundai about 10 feet out of my driveway that is dented in the front…

.. ..

I look to see the bottom 2/3rds of my garage completely smashed in. The initial 5-6 feet of my right side garage wall has the drywall and 2x4’s damanged.

.. ..

Lawn equipment including mower, blower, edger, and weed whacker are all damaged. Two extra large Rubbermaid garbage cans are damaged. Approximately 42 full size landscaping bricks were on a pallet and displaced from the front of the garage to the back in a spraying manner.. indicating high speed. Each brick weighs approximately 15 lbs. The garbage can is on its side and flew from the front of the garage to the back.

.. ..

I sat down on my flower bed out front. Officer xxx asked me if I had my ID. My ID is in my car which my husband had.. so I got my purse and showed him my social… and he wrote down my info.

.. ..

The Hispanic officer came up to me and asked me if I wanted to press charges. He asked three times.. each time saying, “Well it’s going to be paid for either way…” then he told me he could only charge her with criminal trespassing. That no one saw her driving so they couldn’t do DWI. Then I said, “My husband would want me to press charges.” And he said, “Well you do what YOU want to do.” I said yes I wanted to press charges.

.. ..

No accident report was filled out. No pictures were taken by the officers.

.. ..

.. ..

My husband gets here about 20 minutes later. Daylight has broken. We notice the drag marks on the driveway indicative of the fact that she was going fast and just crashed into our driveway. We then noticed the fact that her car moved the half a pallet of bricks.

.. ..

I called Precinct 4 to get another officer out here to look at the damage.

The officer told me that the first officers shouldve filed an accident report… got her for felonious mischief and possibly burglary.

.. ..

The officer who came out the second time was surprised that I was even ASKED if I wanted to file charges… and gave me the supervisors name to file a complaint on Monday.
He was also surprised no crime scene photographer came out...

.. ..

I’m not allowed to fix anything until the complaint is filed on Monday.

.. ..

There’s approximately 5k-6k in damages.

The scariest part was seeing the feet under the door when the door was rattling.. and not knowing at the time that this was just some woman.. I thought someone had broke in to assault me. I was terrified.

The chick was a stripper looking trashy thing... I'm thinking they were wanting to get her off or something...

They didn't find her ID or insurance info.. even though she says she has it.

Scariest moment of my life...

You're so cool man that you would take the life of some drunk idiot for entering your house.

I honestly think I'd have shot through the door if I had a gun.
I was that frightened.
I've never been a necon gun lover.. but am considering getting licensed now.

I've never been this terrified in my life.

I definitely wouldn't have been hiding under all the dirty clothes in my master closet, scared to death.. if I'd have had a gun...

HorseShit 02-07-2009 09:40 AM

everyone should keep a gun in their bedroom for this purpose alone

And even the one cop wanted to remind me that she was drunk.. wanting me to almost feel sorry for her... but ya know, she made a conscious choice to get plastered and drive...

if she'd have hit my neighbors like this.. she'd have killed almost 40k in show dog puppies...

Or what if it'd been the living room instead of garage and I'd been in it? or a kid? I don't feel one bit sorry for this bitch..

I had a similar situation a few months ago. A drunk woman knocked on my front door late at night, asking to use the phone.

She had crashed her car on the road, a few hundred feet from my house. When I let her use the phone --she called the bar she had just left, of all places!

After she, left I called 911 immediately, and the cops came shortly thereafter and took care of the whole thing. What an idiot!

How are you to know why they are there? I don't own a gun but guarentee whoever breaks in my house will get knocked out with a baseball bat.

lulzzzzzzzzzz

PSSuperstars 02-07-2009 10:03 AM

She was going so fast.. there are rust scrape marks from her metal frame on the initial incline of my driveway....

and well, those landscaping bricks traveled in a splayed motion about 10-15 feet.. all 42 knocked off the pallet.

If they weren't there.. I bet I'd have a hyundai in my theater room right now..

So you think you'd have killed a drunk idiot if you'd had a gun, and that's why you're considering getting a gun?

Hiding under the dirty clothes in your closet and calling 911 is a GOOD thing - even if you do have a gun. It lowers your chances of killing a person like this, and it also lowers your chances of getting shot if the other person happens to have a gun as well.

No but what if next time it's not some drunk chick... the fear I felt before I knew who or what it was... was not a good feeling. Not something I want to go through again.

There's a difference between knocking someone out and killing someone you know.

If it hadn't been a drunk chick, it would probably have been a burglar looking solely for stuff to steal. The moment the burglar would have seen you, he'd probably have run off - unless perhaps you were shooting at him, and he was carrying a weapon as well.

While serial killers and such are common on TV, in real life they are *extremely* uncommon.

In your case, chances of it being a random drunk person, teens vandalizing stuff, a drunk friend or a typical burglar were all far more likely than it being someone with any intention of hurting you.

So even if you decide to get a gun, you should still call the police and hide in the closet. It's less dangerous both to yourself and to others.

As an aside, while I'm sure the fear was a terrible feeling... how would you feel if you had killed the woman in question?

Maybe it would've been her own fault, but you would still be the one who had actually pulled the trigger. And you would be the one who would go through a police investigation and be confronted with the fact that her parents/children/siblings/husband had lost her.

I'm sure that in a few more days... once I've calmed down.. I'll completely agree with you :) Thank you for spelling it out...

but also, for us chickies that do our design here.. and do our own 2257.. or work in phone sex or webcam... home invasions are a big, real, fear....and that was the first thing that went through my head.. a phone sex client had broken in...

You would feel the same fear and probably shoot yourself in the foot.
Sorry. just being realistic.

oh shit, what a story life can write

pocketkangaroo 02-07-2009 11:07 AM

I hate when cops give you a guilt trip about pressing charges. I mean the women destroyed your property and broke into your house. I don't give a shit if she was drunk or not. Arrest her and get her off the streets before she kills someone.

jmcb420 02-07-2009 11:14 AM

ouch, that sucks.

It sounds though like no one got hurt, thats good. And yes, gun in bedroom is the rule. Just scream before you shoot through the door. In Ohios CCW class they speak of line of site and how you must have one.
Not sure how that works in a B+E case though. I would have probobly shot through the door also, screw l.o.s. I'm glad at any rate that you are ok. that is the important thing.

Do you realize if that would be the rule and everybody would do that there would be WAY more accidents and drunk boyfriends/girlfriends getting that gun, family fights etc where that gun will be used than that it will be ever needed for a burglar?

lol, you misunderstand. In a case like this one, where it is obvious that the person outside the door is someone you dont know, for a reason you also dont know, then yes. As far as I am concerned, after you have screamed a warning and waited a second, fire through the door knee-high, then exit the room, and hold the person at gun point until the cops show up.
Now, as to what you were talking about accidents can and do sometimes happen when stupid people carry or use firearms. If you own a gun then it is your absolute duty to be 100% that when you shoot, your shooting at a bonified target such as an intruder. That is why the line of sight rule exists. Like I said, in her situation I would have shot through that door. The law would have looked badly upon me for doing it with no l.o.s., but in certian situations even cops are smart enough to see the big picture. Who the hell is going to open their door to make sure their not shooting someone they know when their pretty sure its not?
Also, you make a good point about family fights, etc....... here's the deal with that: it all comes down to education. Some people should have zero access to guns. Their should be strict mental testing to determine if someone should even own one, but lets visit reality. There is no test. So if you have a firearm in your house you must educate your family and your friends to insure that accidents are less likely to happen. It might sound weird, but in my house the word is "MARLEY" as in Bob. All my friends know, my x wife and my current girl know the word. If you must gain access to my house through some strange twist of events that forces you to basicly break in or any other number of reasons, just scream "MARLEY" and that way I know its someone I shouldn't shoot.
Never mix guns with alcohol, dont even think about them if your pissed off, and never leave them laying around, loaded or not. I own many. I have one loaded constantly and its always on my person, in house or not. I do not look forward to using it, I have never been in a situation where I had to pull it, and I dont want to be, ever.

A little responsibility and thinking ahead of time can be the difference between killing your friend or staying up late listining to him bitch about his girl kicking him out again.:2 cents:

Fact is there will always be tons of people who aren't educated in using guns and therefore there will always be more accidents with guns than those guns actually being used for self protection in your house and therefore more guns = more danger for everyone. I'm happy i don't live where you live. No matter what the next big ass reply of yours is: 100 people with guns are for self protection is way more likely to go wrong than 100 people without guns for self protection.

D Ghost 02-07-2009 02:31 PM

damn thats crazy

Dirty F 02-07-2009 02:33 PM

Gun lovers always have this eduction thing ready when going into discussion while it's total BS as half the US walks around with a gun uneducated.

If this if that...i'm talking about the situation now and not a situation if this or that or that would happen because that's not gonna happen. So basically gun lovers do admit the situation is fucked yet they keep telling everyone to buy more guns.

AaliyahLove 02-07-2009 02:36 PM

I know how you feel hun. I had one of my creepy neighbors walk into my living room while I had naked webcam girls here working. He didn't do any property damage but me and the girls were still terrified and I was PISSED at my dog for not biting him.
My bf woulda shot him if he were here fo sho!
I can't believe the cops and the gusy in this thread trying to stick up for the drunk bitch. SHE'S lucky all she crashed into was your house and didn't kill anyone! I say press all of the charges you can!!!

PSSuperstars 02-07-2009 03:33 PM

The door from the garage to the house was not locked.. but I have special locks/opener on the garage door.. it never occurred to me that someone would blow in my garage door and come in thru that one.

You can be damn sure I'll be locking it from now on.

scottybuzz 02-07-2009 03:52 PM

Hey I am sorry to hear this, glad you are ok. You did the right thing, forget the gun idea, it will only cause problems.
And that is CRAZY about the police officers at the start. I would report them if I were you.
