I am currently in the uk and i hate it!

I want to leave it for good.

Where in the world is a nice place to live?

PiffStenis 09-08-2008 03:07 AM

Czech Republic is nice, I'm never going back to UK

Vendot 09-08-2008 03:28 AM

I hate it when people travel fucking 10,000 miles to the UK only to live in a run down part of Brixton and then complain how shitty it is.

Of course its shitty if you can smell the bacon sandwiches rotting outside the door of your counsel flat and the local drug dealer pushes past you on the way up the grimey cum stained stairs only for you to trip on a hobo and crack your skull against the concrete floor.

OK so break the news, where are you in London?

HomerSimpson 09-08-2008 03:30 AM

probably in Peckham like those two from Only Fools and Horses LOL

The Duck 09-08-2008 03:32 AM

London is nice :D

Australia....

Sarah_Jayne 09-08-2008 03:39 AM

I suppose that rather depends on what you think makes a place nice to live.

I made the UK my home over 12 years ago and I even live in the suburbs of London and I like it here so much I became a citizen.

Why would that be?

I know if I was picking a random nice place to live, the country with the most creatures and fauna that could kill me would not jump right to the top of it without a very good reason.

seeandsee 09-08-2008 03:46 AM

Don't get me wrong man, this country is a beautiful place.
I just believe it is ran but what must be monkeys or some other animal as the past 5 years it has gone down hill real fast.

I actually live in Exeter, a City in Devon which is way down south.
I'm British, so are my family, we have lived here all of our lives.

Exeter? I'm about 25 mins drive from you as we speak..

I suggest Melbourne, Australia. Great people, Great Place, Cheap compared to England(Where Isn't) weather is pretty good most of the time. Just had nine months purely there and I'd have stayed but something about here pulled me back and I've been regretting it ever since..

v4 media 09-08-2008 04:16 AM

Spain, its cheap hot and part of the EU so you can move there without visa's etc and it's only a 2 hour flight to visit parents etc.

Marky333 09-08-2008 04:17 AM

No I didn't.. For fucks sake, you guys call Stella a premium lager.. It's called wife beater in the UK for a good reason.. You have VB which is frankly nasty and Carlton Draught is the equivalent of brown acid and rots your stomach.. it may be slightly stronger than English beer, but strength is no measure of quality unless you are a tramp.. Tooheys Extra Dry was ok though, I'll have a few of those if I visit a Walkabout Bar..

Your Rum is a low standard as well. Bundaberg is shite... But.... Other than that it's a fucking cool place once you get past the beer problem. I had to resort to buying imported Heineken and Coronas. More expensive but worth the cost....

P.S Premium Crown Lager is VB in a fancy bottle...:winkwink:

Lol. Yeah I heard that over there a couple of times.. :1orglaugh:1orglaugh

As I said, it was a brilliant country and I'd love to have stayed. I'll be certainly going back there, although there was one thing that confused me while I was there.. How in the world does a country expect to be taken seriously when there are white people calling their daughters "Ebony"?

How does that work? :1orglaugh:winkwink:

Seriously I met two 18yo girls pale as can be and their name was Ebony. Their parents were either thick or trying (and failing) to be ironic....:stoned

Glad you enjoyed the place mate, did you get a chance to check out anywhere else over here or did you just stay in Melbourne? With the Ebony thing, well I've never personally met an Ebony and I'm 45, but yeah I understand what ya mean though

I landed in Sydney and went straight to Melbourne.. Basically stayed there, saw a few other bits of Victoria as I have family there. That's about it, didn't go to travel, I went to get out of the UK for a while. I'd had enough of shitty weather, binge drinking idiots (myself excluded), increasing costs, rising unemployment and on top of that I was still living at home with my mother. I went to Melbourne, drank a lot, slept around where possible, played a lot of poker at the crown, watched A-League games, hung out with a few travellers, got shouted at constantly while working in a Foxtel call centre, worked at a Sexpo exhibition and generally did what the fuck I liked. Was a good way to spend 9 months. When I go back I'll do the tourist crap and visit Ayers Rock (or what ever it's called now) and see the other cities.

I did eat Kangaroo though, and it was pretty good. :thumbsup

Mike Semen 09-08-2008 05:11 AM

Mate I am leaving this country this year too. Been in London far too fucking long. Cyprus first then South America or Thailand. I'm going to travel around till I find somewhere decent to settle for a few years.

I am not a fan of the UK at the moment too. I see it turning into Russia where the rich are rich and the poor are poor and there's no middle class. I would love to move but don't have the courage to just pack up and leave and leave behind friends and family, including my dog lol and move to a new place where I know noone. I am also in the middle of a degree which doesn't help. But I feel that the negative aspects are starting to over take the positive aspects. And I feel the people in charge aren't going to be able to stop it. I feel they are too busy trying to further their own careers and lives and not the peoples they are in charge of.

Sid70 09-08-2008 05:40 AM

i lived in London next to Russel square, i liked it a lot, why complain? Ah, no cheap shit? Why not? Sales time comes you go Oxford street and buy it. Nice people, british accent me likes.

What type of argument is that? Because last time I went to Oxford street when the sales were on, you couldn't exactly buy petrol in the sale, nor buy the years supply of gas and heating in a 50% off sale. and Yeh because we all bulk buy food in January to last us the whole year.

We are not talking about the latest xbox or a pair of designer shoes here.

Well....... I agree with you there. It has gone seriously downhill. This country does have many issues that need to be sorted out.

Sure but the UK has much more than its fair share. Immigration, Crime, Taxes, Health System, Chav culture etc. The labour government in the UK is not pro-active, its pretty damn incompetent. We have a crisis in prison overcrowding. You hear the headlines every day but the government does nothing.

Im sure things will improve but compare what you get for your money (your tax money) in London to what you get in say Melbourne (AUS) or Berlin (GER)....

mrwilson 09-08-2008 12:41 PM

anymore suggestions?
I am tempted to book a flight to spain, perhaps benidorm and visit several places as a holiday/break

BradM 09-08-2008 12:43 PM

Canada. Very very British friendly, a lot like home... easy going. Problem is a high tax rate.

Benidorm? You must like the cream of the British chav culture. Dude, stay the fuck away from there as its like Peckham with a beach. Go somewhere nicer, well go anywhere but Benidorm, Magalluf or Faliraki.

Canada is gorgeous, if you seek a colder environment pick the east coast. The islands like PEI and NFLD are nice but the winters are deadly. The west coast doesnt snow much, Vancouver or Vancouver island. I guess it depends on how you operate your business as well.

I reside in Toronto now and its very nice :D

buzzy 09-08-2008 02:35 PM

London, Sheffield and Manchester are quality. The rest of the UK is basically a toilet.
