I've been ripped off out of almost $10,000 by a service provider for a mainstream project.

I need to sue the guy.

I'm based in the UK, he is in America.

Do I need a US lawyer, or will a UK lawyer be OK?

pretty sure a US lawyer will be needs that know our laws better.

Can't post his name at this point, prior to legal action.. but I'd LOVE to... I'd also love to kick his fucking teeth out, but again, I can't.

Ask a UK lawyer they should have all the answers you are looking for. But expect it to cost more than 10k to get your money back.

international law suits are VERY DIFFICULT and for amount of 10k
your legal fees may run you even half or more + of what is owed to u
so something to think about .

You want to sue in the jurisdiction where he has seizable property.

can't you sue for legal expenses aswell? assuming you win?

Better make damn sure they have assets that can be attached first. Sure you can get legal fee's yet it does not mean shit if the person has nothing of value in their name.
