Shitty neighbors: What would YOU do?
 

My fuckin' asshole neighbors above me have kids. And I can understand that. I have 3 myself... they do not live with me, but I understand how kids can be. Well these particular kids upstairs STOMP on the fucking floor 24/7.... and I'm fucking sick of it.

So..... I come back from the beach today, and they're stomping.....


I happen to have $10k in audio gear here. And it ain't just pretty for lookin' at. It actually functions as well. I decided to use it.

It took all of 5 minutes before management was here pounding on my door, telling me that OTHER buildings.... across the parking lot, and even some two buildings away were complaining. I told them I did it to make a point. Point being: I'm sick and fucking tired of listening to this stomping bullshit on my ceiling every damn day and I want it ended.

Cause noise problems for me? I got your fuckin' noise problems.... personified.

Needless to say, the stomping stopped immediately.

But I'm fucking sick of this shit.... I shouldn't HAVE to do shit like this. But if it happens again.... guess what..... I'll be holding a fucking concert here.

2 questions:

1. Did I handle this appropriately?
2. What would YOU have done?

that's why when i moved into a condo i made sure that i was the ground floor just so that i wouldn't have to worry about complaints about the kids stomping around!

Every time they stomp, call management, with enough complaints they will either be evicted or be very very quite. Make sure to only do it after certain hours, whatever your noise guidelines are in your area. That way it has more effect, b/c you can be really loud during the day, but after 11pm here, you can't be by law, and if you are too loud, the cops will come :>

believe me Zoink.... I was well within my hours limit.... I made sure..... it was 6pm here when I did this. Didn't matter. It was loud enough that the next complex over was complaining.

Problem:
People love to park in my parking spot in my building.

Solution:
I bought some of those impossible to peel off bright orange no parking stickers and use 4 of them at a time.

btw... this is not the first incident with this particular neighbor... we've addressed the stomping issue before. It has not been rectified.

You are talking about controlling kids who are playing & jumping around. kids will be kids.

My advice:

1) get over it
2) ask to be moved to a top floor apt due to the inconvenience.

It won't stop nomatter how hard you try. You have kids, you should know what it's like

at least you dont' have 3 fat lesbians living above you who love to do jumping jacks when they get home from work at burger king at 2am.

That's actually pretty good. Being paradise and all. Here in Santa Monica, $1K will get a basement studio--which is where I currently am.

I can relate sharky.... and I've tried to get over it... but I can only get over it for so long... I've tried. My girl is MUCH more volitile about this than I am..... thing is, every place we've lived we've had some shitass living over us that loves to make noise. We're cursed.

I'm sick of it. And I'm taking a stand here. Instead of calling management every 5 minutes (which it WOULD be) I decided to make a point. Point being: I have to live with this aggravation? Fine. I will contribute my OWN aggravation. I must learn to live with it? Fine. Don't complain when I turn up the system to x95. Complain about me? Fine. Stop the thing that is aggravating me on a daily basis and I will stop.

Might not be the "right" thing to do.... but I'm damn sure gonna get my point across. At the expense of everyone else within earshot.

Remember... it depends on what you're looking for and where you wanna be.... it may be less, or it may be (more likely) much more.

Maybe you should talk with the parents sometime, explain it's bothering you. It could be that they aren't even aware of how much it is annoying you.

Did that...... did that the first week we were here. She swore she would correct it. That has not happened.

Keep in mind that these kids totally run wild.... right outside our fucking patio door... every day. And I have completely disregarded it for now. Throwing footballs and baseballs into our windows.... broken them 3 times already.... destroyed 5 planters full of flowers...

I hope you bitched out the kids when it happened and that they paid for all of it. When I grew up in hawaii, damn, kids had no respect for others property. And of course it hasn't changed.

Sounds like my old asshole neighbors killing my moms cat who beat the shit out of the neighbors cat daily because of natural instict of male cats.

I have the same problem in this apt I just moved into - stompy neighbors. This is just an interim place though. Can you just move to a house rental? That way you don't have to worry about up, down or side to side noise. In this biz, we can basically conduct shit from a shack in the woods if we want, as long as we got a phone line coming in, eh? :winkwink:
