I'll try to stay as factual as possible.

2- March 13: We negotiated a price.

Nothing received.

30 seconds later, I sent him payment, anticipating the rest, and the zip.

Seven days pass
In the meantime, he contacts me nightly, and tells me they'll be done each night. There's apparently some fucked up shit going on in his life in regards to flatmates. I sympathise, but tell him it's not my problem. If he needs to adjust the ETA, or drop the work, tell me honestly. He assures me that the work will be done.

March 25, 7PM. [Logs are on my laptop, posting from work pc]
Contacts me: tells me - work will be done by midnight tonight, no doubt.

March 26, 8AM: Tells me he didn't receive any text for the banners [huh?]

Then, it starts going off the rails, in a major fashion:
3:17PM - past the dead-dead-dead-deadline

Finally, he decides that he's never going to send links through.

and I didn't get paid upfront for anything...and sent you 10 banners on time. The others I wasn't paid upfront for either...and didn't owe you anything...so stop crying.

As I said to you on ICQ: The banners were NOT done on time, I gave you multiple deadlines. You refused to send links to what I had paid for, and tried to scurry to push the deadline further.
The line has to be drawn somewhere. 14 days over shedule is enough.
Your debt for 10 banners was settled literally 30 seconds after.

I'm not going to argue this on GFY w/ you. The facts stand.

Here we go...

I've been having a hell of a time since I moved here, and he was well aware of it...and again, he didn't pay anything upfront and was owed nothing when he made this post. He's one to talk about stealing content, they run all kinds of amateur webcontent shit.

This is an email I sent the previous roommate of the person I'm currently living with, as we were discussing each other's situation and looking into legal action against this woman.


I moved here 4 weeks ago and the place I was going to rent originally was supposed to be completely renovated, got here and nothing was done...so I had to find another place asap, since I had a large U-Haul filled with all my stuff.

Started searching on Craigslist and came across a woman (Louise), who basically had nothing at all and was looking for a roommate in downtown Toronto. Met her and could see she was a little out there, but didn't think it would really affect my life and I could get by for a couple months until I got settled and came up with something else. Turned out she's absolutely psycho (to put it lightly) and couldn't have affected my life anymore than she has. She's 59 / no job / no friends / no family (that want anything to do with her) / no life / no anything / compulsive liar and she's a drunk on top of everything.

Basically what she does is she posts ads on Craigslist, looking for a roommate and gets them to pay the first and last month rent down. Which I found out the other day covers mostly all the expense, hers included. So the first month pays for mostly everything for the month and then she uses the last month's rent payment to pay for her food and liquor etc. for the current month. Then over the course of the first month she harasses her roommate non-stop until it gets to the point they leave; that way she can do this all over again, since she can't afford to take care of herself the upcoming month, because she's gone through all the money they've given her. I'm the 3rd roommate she's had this year already, one of which I know left in the middle of the day without even telling her.

So pretty much ever since the day I moved all my things in she's been causing hell in my life and trying to get me out of here. It got to the point a week and a half after moving in that she called the police on me, because basically I wasn't going to deal with her bullshit and wasn't going to leave right away like she hoped. For the trouble, time and money she cost me I was willing to stay the extra month and put her in a difficult situation, since she had no way to cover any expences for April.

When she contacted the police she went on to tell them all kinds of non-sense, that I threaten her and how's she's scared for her life and how she found me living on the streets (but somehow her place is filled with all nice furniture, big screen tv, etc. all of which is mine) and she felt bad for me, so she let me move in...and told them whatever other lies she could think up (though so easily can be proved she's lying). The first time the police show up and within 2 mins she's yelling at them, asking for the names and badge numbers and just giving them a good glimpse of who she is...and right away they know what the problem is and that it's nothing to do with me. Over the course of a couple hours they went over everything with me and by the time they left threatened her that they'll charge her with several little things if she didn't stop harassing me, making false reports, etc.

The the next day I get eviction emails from her saying she went to the rental people downstairs and told them I was harassing her and she had to have the police remove me from the place and she called the tenancy board and told them the same set of lies and everyone told her she has the right to kick me out right away. So in her mind, somehow she doesn't take in anything the police told her or what's going on in the real world and continues in her little fantasy world to think she has a right to kick me out. So then all day that day I had to go around and clean up all her messes...and as soon as I sit down and talk to people, they see what the real problem is and try to help me out in anyway they can.

After I clean all that up then she somehow finds out my brother's number and my mother's (who I haven't talked to in almost 2 years) and calls them up and tells them basically what she told the police, along with that all i do is drugs and drink 24/7, that i'm unstable and need serious help and how she's worried I'm going to do something to myself or her. Then sends me an email letting me know that she talked to them. So I go out and ask her why she's doing this to me and she now has a tape recorder taping everything I say. As I'm talking she's making faces at me and giving me the finger, thinking I might be stupid enough to say or do something I shouldn't with the recorder going.

So once again I have to go clean up all her messes and then she starts threatening me that all my furniture is going to accidently get damaged if i don't soon leave, and she's going to make sure the internet gets shut off so I can't work (I'm a web based graphic designer). Sure enough the next day I wake up and the internet is off and I can't use my phone, because it's with Vonage, so I can't call anyone or do anything. By this time she's gone so I search for her house phone, that she hid and I call my mother and ask her to call the police and tell them about the wacky phone calls and emails she got from her. Then I call the police and as soon as they realize who they're talking to they tell me that I need to get out of here asap. That she's at the Police Station telling them all kinds of stories (that they don't buy for a second) and played her recorder, which only made her look even crazier...and they're afraid she's crazy enough that if I don't leave, that she'll hurt herself and try to accuse me, so I get removed / charged.

So that's a bit of what I've been dealing with, I plan to be out this weekend. Though I refused to move until she paid me back the money she owes me, but then once again she called the police last night and had them here trying to kick me out once again. Telling them the same lies she's told them already, not realizing the police keep track of everything lol. I just had too much of it and it's getting in the way of my work and everything else, so I'm jumping ship.

Well BA, if this is libel you can claim damages because it is stuff like this that caused me to pass.

I've had shit luck the past couple months and i will be the first to admit i've gotten behind if some projects...but everyone's gotten their work or it's almost completed and will be...That's for sure.

When will people realize that this is a business and when someone places an order we dont care if you are having roomate troubles, dont care that you just broke up with your girlfriend, dont care that you broke your foot falling down the stairs etc etc Its a fucking business, treat it like one..if you cant make the deadline say so and be done with it and continue taking orders when you KNOW you can get the work done.

Everyone has personal issues, the difference is stop using it as an excuse for not delivering on time.

The dates listed don't really seem to correspond with being on time. You were way late and kept pushing it back and pushing it back.

If you had all this shit going on, why not give him a more realistic timeframe rather than string him on with "itll be done tonight, for sure!" bullshit? That seems to have compounded things much worse than playing him straight would have done.

Doing a middle east thing in November, so summer travel will be limited.

I'd love to see you in the situation I've been in then, 'cause I'm can promise you...you'd be singing a different tune. I understand it's a business, but when things are totally out of your control...it's nice to deal with people who can actually be understand, sorry if that's asking for too much.

Banners are done, today was the final deadline. Money for banners, it's simple.

because I live with a nut and I never have any idea when she's going to cause shit in my life...I've dealt with the police about a dozen times this month...and constantly have her trying to cause ridiculous arguments with me...or harassing other people in my life that have nothing to do with the situation.

If that has been the situation for a while, you should have realized a long time ago to figure in the delay of "crazy time" instead of "for sure!" and definite type statements on a delivery time. Believe me, I know what its like.

He paid nothing upfront and paid for the first order of 10 banners when I sent them to him...I sent him the page they were on and a link to download the zip file.

The last 10 banners, which I was 5 minutes late on the deadline today...are 100% completed and he refused to pay for them...So I'm not giving them to him obviously. Though he's been sent a screenshot, etc.

Sorry but it is "asking for much" when you dont warn the person beforehand, and instead keep saying "will have it done by tonight for sure"...if you cant be upfront that the project maybe delayed how can you expect others to be understanding?

Your proof shows clearly he will not complete jobs to spec. Enough for me to decide to pass on anything he has to offer.

5 minutes late? Maybe Im reading it wrong but didnt he keep delaying the date for 2 weeks? Seems quantum-x was fairly patient but even I would have started getting annoyed after the first week, if the designer initially told me he would be done in a day.

possibly, honestly I didn't read all that crap above .. I have more important things to do than read a book right now, but it sounds like it's 2 seperate orders and the first was VERY late but paid for and delivered ..

The second was 5 minutes late and quantum-x expected to be drawn along for weeks again so refused to pay for the second order when it was only 5 minutes late

The first bunch he got on time and the second have been delayed because of what I've been having to deal with. He gave me a final deadline today for the second batch and I was a few minutes late having them to him...which he didn't pay anything upfront for either.

When you didn't read the bit above, you missed the part about everything being 14 days late. When I finally put down the hammer, and gave him 4+ hours, which he agreed to, he was again late, and again said it would be 10 minutes.
10 minutes later, he said that he still wasn't done.

At that point, I told him I wanted links to previously completed work, which he refused to give.

Whether he has the stuff done now, stupidly over schedule, I don't really care. But, my inbox still doesn't have a zip of the 10 banners I paid for. The line has to be drawn somewhere. 14 days of promises is enough.

Really honestly my final post here.

anyway, i'm done witht his thread...trying to get my work caught up and finished before i move this weekend. thanks for being understanding.

Thanks for the comment. It's been a hell of a last few months, my luck has been awful...and I apologize to anyone I got behind in work with...and once i get settled and in my new place and can focus strictly on work...there will be no issues like this coming up again.

After this I'd be shocked if anyone paid you upfront for any of your work considering you seem reluctant to deliver work even after its paid for(the 10 banners). Not even mentioning your unforseen delays.

What are you talking about? At not one point was I paid upfront for any part of this project.

I designed 10 banners and got paid for them afterwards.

Designed 10 more and was a few minutes late today on the last deadline he gave me...and didn't get paid for them.
