I need NTSC help please..:-)

I have 2 movies on tape in NTSC format and need these changed to AVI format

If there is anyone out there who can help i can mail the tapes to you and arrange payment etc..

NTSC ( America, Japan, .. ) is a TV format to compare to PAL ( Europe, Asia, etc..) .

Going to avi requires nothing more then an encoder to encode the original file ( which was ...??? ) along with a capture card / software.

If you mean to transcode from NTSC to PAL, there is cheap software for that , that does a marvellous job.

Sorry as i seem to have not made this problem very clear..

I have purchased content on Mini DV tape in NTSC format from an American photographer, being in Europe our camcorders only do PAL.

If i could post these to somebody and they could capture the tapes and burn to DVD in AVI format that would be great.

I can post the tapes to you and discuss costs..:-)

This may be a silly question, but, the content producer doesn't have a backup? All it would take is for him to dump the DV stream to an AVI file.

There may even be a way to fool a camcorder into doing this since it is just passing a digital stream through the firewire port. Have you tried more than just attempting to play the video via the camcorder?

^^ BTW if you do manage to capture it the DV stream itself will still be in 720x480/30fps format, but at least you should be able to convert it to 720x576/25fps PAL with your favourite encoder. Your video editing software may even be able to read it directly.

go rent or buy a cheap ntsc camcorder with firewire and dump it to your drive
