If MICHAEL VICK WERE WHITE would he be doing less time?
I think its a stupid question and its obvious that if we were talking Steve Young here there wouldnt have even been a trial.

Wait. Is Jerry Rice White?
Or did he just have white Friends? Sometimes it pays just to have friends who are white. After all you are who you hang out with. |
Steve Young wouldnt be that stupid to jeopardize 100's of millions of dollars.
|
its fucked up he shouldn't be doing a day in jail in my opinion. but you get all these fucking soccer moms and PETA getting involved with the media and this is what happens.
|
If it were Tom Brady, I think the president would've pardoned him.
|
i am sure tony romo would get the same sentence if he was ignorant enough to do what vick did.

I actually don't think so and I also think he didn't get enough time for what he did.

Al Sharpton and his cronies say:
play the black card |

Also at that income level there really is no black and white. Look at r kelly what he did and he is still free, any of us would have been sitting in jail for a long time.

I'm not talking about black people. I'm talking about a dog, you know those animals that are euthanized by the thousands in animal shelters everyday. |

Vick should have held rodeos instead and roped and choked the shit out of some cows before killing them and eating them.
You don't get jail time for doing that, you get trophies and blue ribbons. :1orglaugh |

One of them is a NEGROOOO. |
but to stick to the topic yes i do believe steve young would have done time too. the reason, money. the gambling aspect is what got him stuck with jail time. you think the fed's would have raided his house for a couple black guys dog fighting for a couple hundred bucks a pop? nah the only reason hes sitting in jail today is because they were gambling in upwards of a hundred thousand dollars per fight. if its just small time dog fighting hes playing in atlanta tonight.

Also if Vick hadn't lied to federal authorities (another federal crime) it might have been run thru at just a state level with no jail time, fines only. . |

He did not get jail time because of the color of his skin.
He got jail time because of the crime he committed & the fact that it was a high profile case involving a criminal activity that is practiced across the nation by innner-city youth caught up in the glorified thug hip-hop life. They wanted to set & make an example of Vick in the hopes of deterring others from committing the same horrendous crimes. |

23 months is a joke. Druggies who never physically harmed a human or animal get more than that and clog the prison system up at the taxpayers expense.
It is irrelevant who Vick is - don't matter if he's Elvis reincarnated or whether his skin is purple, puce or tartan. Vick's career or financial background is also irrelvant insofar as any offenses are concerned. Michael Vick knowingly financed an illegal dog fighting operation. He was the prime promoter, if not the only promoter. In conjuction with his "partners", Vick killed dogs by various methods, including hanging and drowning. The actual dogfights also involved abuse of animals with the object of pandering to a base level of human intellect for profit. Whether the full background was actually revealed, either by admissions or at the trial may be a matter of opinion. Only my :2 cents: - a more appropriate sentence would have been in the range of 60 months - and a day. No parole. |
White? He'd get a high five and some good Cubans and be sent home.

Concluding what a prosecutor called Richmond's biggest dogfighting case, Stacey A. Miller was sentenced yesterday to four years in prison, fined $20,000 and barred from owning any companion animals.
ref Three men who pleaded no contest to dogfighting-related charges were each sentenced Tuesday to four years in prison. Louis Snowden-Davis, 37, Simon J. Denby, 34, and Donyell C. Moschetti, 35, all of Dayton, also were ordered to pay more than $100,000 ref ------------------------------ The guy got off pretty easy.... |

Of course we’re going to have arguments like “I he/she was a celeb.. And if he was playing for a football team, and if he was a Virginia Tech grad, and if he was black and related to Shaka Zulu” Fuck it, the man steped in a pile of shit! GUILTY |

Like somebody said, at that income level and fame, race usually becomes a non-issue. A white player would have gotten the same slap-on-the-wrist that Vick has.
A better question would be would a poor person of any color involved in dog fighting have gotten more harsher sentence. |

I'm not an animal rights freak, but I don't believe in senseless torture of animals either.
I think in Michael Vick's case, his deservement of the punishment is all in perspective. If you're black, you probably believe he got a harsh sentence. If you're an animal rights freak, you probably think he got off easy. If you're a professional football player, you probably wish the media would focus on something else. I personally find it fascinating that a person with enough natural talent to play one of the most coveted positions in one of the most coveted professional sports in the world would piss it all away for what he pissed it away for. Goes to show you what happens when you can't live up to all your hype. |

See Vick actually hung a dog...... where did he get time to do all these things? In his sporting career, you wonder where he would get the time to be involved in these activities. From a practicality point of view, poisoning would be quicker. |
