Do pills really cure Panic Attacks and Anxiety?
so? whats your experiences? I've avoided taking anything, with the fear of getting hooked on them for the rest of my life (or so i've heard)
but i've just about had it now, i cant take it anymore, i get pukey feeling now when in airplanes, and now even in cars, i cant go up high (motion sickness / fear of heights), dont go on roller coasters anymore etc etc fucking bullshit, cuz i love to travel, (need to fly), etc etc this is all VERY new to me, i used to love flying, driving fast, roller coasters, etc etc so whats your experiences with what pills? :Oh crap :Oh crap :Oh crap |
celexa is supposed to be good for panic attacks...you might gain 25 lbs, though.
|
valium would do the trick
|
Marijuana, you know you wanna.
|
valium or xanax, take it as needed that way you arent on something constant, just take it before a flight or something and you should be good to go..
dont ever start taking paxil, i cant get off that shit for the life of me, worst withdrawl ever |
I think Ativan is what you are looking for. It's for people who are anxious and stuff. Makes you way more mellow. Check it out with your doc.
|
wouldn't recommend these sorts of medications to anyone
Edit - they would be ok for occasions like flying as long as you weren't flying everyday. |

Eat banana in the morning ( banana tend to make you feel happy) and exercise more. Avoid caffeine. Xanax (a.k.a upjohn pill) does make you relax. but not longterm solution to your anxiety problem. Take cold shower more often.

Xanax knocks panic attacks right out. Highly addictive though.

As for the prescription drugs, there is alot of evidence pointing towards the idea that dependence on prescription pills as a treatment also can take a negative turn in treating anxiety and depression. Instigating or deepening periods of depression. Some depression medications have come under some pretty heavvy scrutiny after their users have fallen into deeper depressive periods and even commited suicide after beginning the prescriptions. All in all, I'd say don't rely on a pill to solve your problems. PS. Valuum is awesome... |

just start making your doses smaller, smoke weed if you can. It seems to have the same effect. I hear its a bitch to get off of, I believe that is why I just didnt care for it. Try to replace it with excercise or other things that make you happy...good luck |

Anafranil ;)
|
Booze. :2 cents:
|
Erm, also head to a health food store and pick up a bottle of 5-HTP. It's a natural precursor for serotonin production. You won't get hooked on it, and it will help keep your chemically induced chances of remaining in good spirits up.

honestly, i see herb as a huge improvement from something like paxil or lithium everyday...those make you feel like a zombie...you don't have anymore anxiety, but you sure as hell don't feel anything else either. i used to be on a whole slew of sleeping pills, anti-depressants, and anti-psychotics (haha, i'm not crazy, but i had severe insomnia and RLS - a sleep disorder, and not sleeping fucks with your brain). but now i just smoke herb (just a few times a week will do the job if you don't currently smoke) anyway, that's my :2 cents: good luck! |
Take a look at Klonopin.. Does wonders for me not as ruthless as Xanax ;x

have a couple drinks before you jump on your flight should calm you down a bit thats what i do anyway.
|
Xanax can lead to rebound panic attacks. It is not long acting and can do more harm then good when it comes to controlling attacks.
Ask your doctor about klonopin. It provides steady relief. Combine that with behavioral rehab and it works well. |
damn this sucks, i just want to do anything it takes to start feeling normal again
if i take the wrong treatment then could fuck my life forever, or take the right shit and put me back to the happy, good feeling dude i used to be hmmmm, i'm skerd! |
No they do not.
A good balanced diet will help you. 10 Cups of coffee might not be a good idea either if you are prone to Anxiety Attacks. |

Pay attention.
A good diet, regular meals, get your vegetables and meats in order and you will be fine. Stop drinking coffee or have just 1 cup a day. Drop Coca Cola and cafinated drinks. No Rockstars and shit. NORMAL EATING Habits. |

that was the last time i've knowingly had caffein, and that was about 5 months ago, i miss my coffee :( :Oh crap |
Then try a good diet mano before resorting to Pharm shit, that will fuck you up worse down the road.
|
I always take a xanax before any flights. I'm getting on a plane in about 1 hour. Xanax makes any flight enjoyable. 10 hour trips feel like they are 30 minutes. As long as you don't start taking that crap all the time you will be fine.
|
eat whole foods and excersize. Probably the best way to go about it. I'm not a fan of meds myself.

Stay away from prescription meds if at all possible, I am speaking from personal experience here. I've never had anxiety but have been on some pretty heavy pain killers for long periods of time and on occasion I would be put on anti anxiety meds to ease the withdrawal symtoms. I found that they tended to fuck me up more than the pain meds would. I had days that are completely blank and the only way that I know what happened during that time is from what my friends that were around had told me.
I would try smoking some weed if anything at first, and if it doesn't do the trick at least you wont have the nasty withdrawals that you would get from the prescription drugs. Worst case senerio you get mungmouth and the munchies. The only thing is that from what I've heard and observed is that mostly only chronic pot smokers will reap the anti anxiety/etc. benifits of smoking pot and in non chronic users may actually have the reverse effect. |
jscott, hit me up on icq if you want. I've got ALOT of experience with this stuff as I had some badass panic disorder that completely stopped my life for 4 months because I couldn't do anything other then sit in constant terror.
|
Is it just the setting or is there any particular trigger for your panic/anxiety attacks?
|
I had PAs for over 15 years, I took all the knowns SSRIs and benzos for 10 years, I am off all the meds thanks to CBT, try it without meds. I have been meds free for almost a year and a half, it worked wonders! If you wanna talk hit me up on icq

Xan, Val and Klon are in the same exact family. only difference is how they metabolize in the body. it will work at first, but later on watch the fuck out. it will only get worse. coming off xan is one of the hardest things i ever did in life. i dont suggest anyone starting. weed, it disconnects the frontal part of your brain which controls paranoia. not something you want to take if you are trying to get control over this. it will just make it much worse. the come off on weed isnt nearly as bad as xan. but still hard. i just learned to deal with shit myself. was hard the first few months, but now happy i stayed with it. :)

I take Ativan. And I DON'T get easily addicted to things, I never have. But ativan, it can be a problem. You really can't take it everyday because you develop a tolerence really quickly and it stops working. Valium doesn't even do anything for me. I'm supposed to take 1mg a 1-2x a day and I was taking 4mg at once at one point. So if you're not looking to take it everyday I say go for it, they def helped me when I didn't need them 24/7.

weed - definitely a no-no for anybody prone to anxiety/panic attacks - long proven to be a trigger and sometimes the gateway to full blown anxiety disorder.
|
any benzodiazepine will solve your problem (valium, xanax, klonopin, ativan). yes, they are addictive but the risk is fairly small and a hell of a lot better than panic attacks, imo.
