What you do when you're down?

When you feel like shit, depressed, etc.

I usually smoke pot, but seems like it doesn't help last few days

Wolfy 10-07-2007 11:54 AM

exercise.

It's the hardest thing to do when you're down, but it's also the best thing to do.

Push through it man, count your blessings, get some air, take a break from the norm.

They say a change is as good as a break.

Fire up one of my bikes and go for a ride . . . . of course, I do that when I am feeling good too.

Works either way.

no bullsht man - exercise raises your heart rate and releases the endorphins you need to overcome depression.

Oh, and don't fuck around on a treadmill indoors or anything - get out in the fresh air.

:pimp:pimp

sometimes it's as simple as drinking some water

Play with razorblades.

Herb Kornfield 10-07-2007 12:49 PM

Get up out of the chair and get moving to where you are sweating, blood pumping and your physically drained ...

You would be amazed at how much it makes things better. :thumbsup

dig420 10-07-2007 12:51 PM

pot makes it worse, i quit smoking a few years ago. Exercise really is the best cure, xanax is good too :)

dig420 10-07-2007 12:52 PM

sometimes it's also good to count your blessings, stop thinking about yourself and focus on other people and see if u can help someone. Depression can be devastating, feel free to hit me up if u need some help.

ProducerCashDave 10-07-2007 12:52 PM

excersize i 100% agree with.

i used to feel kinda down with low energy about 1 year ago and then i started to get back in shape.

it is really hard to scrape yourself off the couch when you are down and go for a run, you think it will make you even more tired, but after every run it gives me a huge boost of energy.

working out is not over rated, i used to be in amazing shape when i was younger then went about 2 years where i got real lazy, and now for the past year i have been back on it and i can promise you it will change your life in every way.

Zuzana Designs 10-07-2007 01:10 PM

I put in some good music, and read .. always seems to help

gandalfuy 10-07-2007 01:47 PM

Exercise, drink lots of water, and...as much as possible...act 'as if' I were not down. Those things along with reminding myself that it is temporary seem to help.

I feel for you. :) I was down nearly all of September. Things are looking up now though.

Violetta 10-07-2007 01:59 PM

that pot aint doing doing you no good. Get out and meet people. Visit your folks. Work out. Start playing guitar.

Farang 10-07-2007 02:33 PM

some good replies, thanks a lot

2012 10-07-2007 02:35 PM

jakethedog 10-07-2007 02:40 PM

Richard - Triplexcash 10-07-2007 03:54 PM

Dude - pot is making you depressed. Stop that shit and after a week you will feel the best you've felt in a long time.

Very good suggestion, it's what I do as well.:thumbsup

rowan 10-07-2007 05:42 PM

If I'm down I usually go for a drive, I'm on the fringes of suburbia so it doesn't take long to get to somewhere isolated, then just chill.

In some cases sleep also helps (seriously)

Spunky 10-07-2007 05:42 PM

Go for a long hike in the mountians

porn blogger 10-07-2007 05:57 PM

i smoke pot at least 5 times a day... so when i'm down, I just stop smoking pot, but i'm always good :)

Blingbaby 10-07-2007 06:14 PM

a little bit of smack goes a long way..

horvy 10-07-2007 07:22 PM

Just smoke some pot and go running. I know it seems weird, but try it. you get the best of both worlds. Its a great adventure

Cannabis is a depressant...

The THC might make you "high", but a lot of the rest of the chemicals in pot bring you down.

Shouldn't do that shit if you're already feeling down.

DaddyHalbucks 10-07-2007 07:52 PM

Go to the gym, take a long walk, listen to music, get a massage, call an old friend, or do all of the above.

GrouchyAdmin 10-07-2007 07:53 PM

When you're alone, and life is making you lonely, you can always go downtown.

Where's your affiliate link to Gold's Gym?

bausch 10-07-2007 08:12 PM

I've been working out 5-6 days a week and I'm still depressed, it doesn't work. Perhaps it works a tiny bit because perhaps I would be even MORE depressed if I didn't work out but I don't notice a significant change. I'm not depressed DURING the workout because I'm too tired to think or care about anything during the workout period but afterwards I'm still depressed. That's why I don't think it works.

Music helps a little bit, sometimes music makes me happy but it depends on the song. Sometimes when I hear certain songs it will make me even more depressed (especially with depressing/sad songs).

That's another one I hadn't thought of, but is very true. ANY kind of charity work is great for your soul. Charity work gives you a sense of purpose and a feeling of self worth that is hard to explain.

more great advice. "Act as if" applies to so many things, not just depression. Success has been fabricated by many a man who "acted as if" he were successful until everyone believed it - and then it became true. "Act as if" you are not depressed, and the minute you start believing it - it becomes reality.

I <3 "act as if".

Works either way.

don't ride a bike. But I find puffing, grab a great cd and go for a drive and listen to some music and just cruise.:thumbsup:thumbsup

fallenmuffin 10-07-2007 09:29 PM

Listen to music, watch tv and eat shit loads of food. Then just continue to do whatever until it passes (usually comes in waves). I've been diagnosed with manic depression and mild agoraphobia with serve panic disorder many times.

Sometimes drugs do help and not always.

Take a trip to local hospital and ask for “burn unit” .. go there and see if you have balls to tell those people how fucked up your life is just because your girlfriend of 10 month kicked you to curb.

gecko 10-07-2007 11:09 PM

Sleep or work out

After Shock Media 10-07-2007 11:23 PM

Assorted tricks:

Pick up an oxygen tank, pressure regulator, and a mask. Makes you feel fine quick. Use alone or with other tactics.

Small hands on hobbies like banzai or miniatures painting.

Clean up around yourself or some area that has been neglected.

Any gardening in general

SPACE GLIDER 10-07-2007 11:39 PM

listen to good music. This, of course, means not listening to ANYTHING on MTV

Exercise! i play rugby and that really makes me feel on top of the world.

I go weightlifting on thursday, fieldtraining on wednesday and friday.

On sunday I play the competition match. Your mind is on one thing only. RUGBY! Adrenaline! All problems are gone for 80 minutes. And when I'm done, I'm better able to deal with my shit than before the match.

My body is pretty banged up now, but it's well worth it. Nothing better that tackling your opponent on full speed.

RevSand 10-08-2007 04:04 AM

I am going thru that now... Just lost my grandmother and going thru some other tough shit right now... I will try the exercise thing.. I did stop smoking except just before bed to calm the brain... During the day I have buried myself in work to keep my mind busy...

Stole my line...

I remember it going something like "walk down the tracks not across them"

might have it reversed though
