HOSTING: I need a quote on 300 MBPS

Hey Hosters :winkwink:

Give me an approximate price (TMC) on 300MBPS load balanced (4-6 servers and a file server) fully managed.

I dont wanna hear: "Hit me up, and we will make you a great offer".
I want numbers... let's hear it :)

If you need more info, I'll be happy to provide it here.

Thanks

bump for awesome hosts!

zagi 09-20-2007 04:17 AM

What type of application will it be?

Affiliate members site, FHG, other?

We at www.RealityCheckNetwork.com can set this up for you. We've employed load balanced solutions for some of our top customers.

We're hosting quite a few Alexa top 1000 sites and they require complex, high performance, fully managed layouts. Also with the experience that we have gained from setting up 1,000,000+ unique hits/day networks we can correctly build and manage your new infrastructure.

Are you looking for premium bandwidth or low-cost commodity bandwidth?

If a single optimized server on our network can push 300Mbps should we build a more resilient layout by using 2 file servers that are also the web servers.

Thereby creating a live content backup, because in your layout if the file server goes down then the 4-6 load balanced balances machines stop serving content as a result.

gazool 09-20-2007 04:38 AM

The solution should mainly pull large connection levels.
Serving galleries...

zagi 09-20-2007 04:39 AM

Are you looking for low-cost bandwidth or premium bandwidth?

gazool 09-20-2007 04:44 AM

premium bw

zagi 09-20-2007 04:45 AM

And how much storage space do you need on the file servers?

zagi 09-20-2007 04:49 AM

On our premium network I can offer you the following:

300Mbps of Tier1 bandwidth
$8000/month

2 File Servers with fully redundant setup
$350/month

Total package: $8350/month, $0setup

Please contact me on ICQ: 4930562 so I can explain why our fully managed package is one of the best in the business, we already host a very large number of high traffic websites and can guarantee that you will be happy with our service level.

zagi 09-20-2007 04:54 AM

I see you're from DK, we already host a large number of webmasters from Denmark who are very pleased with our service like:

www.babeindex.dk and his network of sites

gazool 09-20-2007 05:00 AM

2 file servers sounds like a good plan.
1) How many front servers in this setup?
2) Overage?

zagi 09-20-2007 05:01 AM

Can you please contact me via ICQ? There are quite a number of small things to discuss and talking here is not the best method.

zagi 09-20-2007 05:07 AM

1) 2 front servers
2) Overage at same price as original bandwidth

gazool 09-20-2007 05:37 AM

good... yes I will contact you later... tonight or tomorrow... thanks

I would wonder why you need the price here, why you would need us to give out the info to other hosts, but what the hell. First i will tell you, 2 servers of almost any kind will not handle 300 megs of gallery traffic, that type of application is a processor and drive killer. so the question I have is how much content? If its not a ton, say likea terabyte or less i would be for 4 servers in a load balanaced situation about 7500 bucks, no set up. if it were a lot of content I would cluster it and it would be around 8000.00/mo. We could fool with the bandwidth tier and lower the price maybe, but hard to tell. From a peering standpoint with us you could have 100 peers or more at the the lower tier you would have 5.; If you have questions feel free to call me later.

On the real you need to hit up Zak @ yellowfiber.net. He's got the 31337 F5 load balancers and big ass SAN boxes to rock your content out. Anything else would be uncivilized...

Snake Doctor 09-20-2007 08:21 AM

I don't like all the threads lately with people insisting that hosting prices be posted in the thread.

ALOT of companies don't want to disclose what their whales pay per meg because then everyone doing 10mbps is gonna demand the same price.

I think there are alot of trolls in the hosting biz trying to find out what the competition is charging for bigger customers...and that's who's starting most of these threads.

That is what I was going to say..... Also most of the bigger and better hosts like isprime, natnet, TechieMedia, mojohost, etc.....would never conduct their biz on a board and because of this fact you are losing out on some of the best deals around IMHO.:2 cents:

galleries are static files. Any 2 servers will handle 300Mbps without a blink.

Yep, if you're really looking for a deal I can't see why you wouldn't take an email offer. What difference does it make?

I think they start these threads with one nick, then come in with another and make the lowest offer, and it makes their hosting company look good.

Trolling 101 :2 cents:

you'd think that, but its just not true. Galleries do way more prcessor than movies, more than anything but but big DB's, receiving them is totally different, big gallery machines doing more than 100 Mbps actually whine when the disks start demanding so much. I always thought the same, but big programs that run a few hundred megs of galleries demand more than just 2 machines.

Lenny2 - although I agree that not all business & proposals should be done on the boards, I can assure you that gazool is NOT someone fishing for info on the competition.

If companies are interested, I'm sure they can take the first step and either respond here or ask him for the info where they can send their proposal.

What he didn't want was 'reactive' folks asking for him to hit them up is what I'm thinking.

Are you sure it cant be done with 2 servers ?

I have pushed 80mbs on a celeron with 1 gig ram and 1 hd before with 25% or less cpu used i figure a nice dual cpu setup with a few gigs ram and scsi hd's you could push 300mbs on a single server :)

gazool 09-20-2007 10:13 AM

I'll be back in a few hours...

Runetek 09-20-2007 10:15 AM

gazool:

- Bandwidth: 300MBps (not capped, you can upgrade at anytime)
- Servers: depends on hardware a little, but any custom machine can be build. HDD size depends on your needs, up to 4x 750GB per machine is not a problem
- Optional: control panels, backup, addional IP's, load balancer, internal networking, etc. We already host similar projects and setup can be quick

It can be done for about $3999, including bw, hw, setup, help with transfer and setup scripts.

Let me know if anything,

static files (galleries in this case) use 0 cpu there is nothing to process there.

Ycaza 09-20-2007 11:26 AM

No I did not have my morning coffee, but in this case its from experience, shit I have done almost 300 Mbps out of one machine (huge machine) but who would want to, and I have done 90 off a celeron, but again who would want to. I got an early education on this trying to host XXXjays/occash's galleries, about 250-300 Mbps of them, static content with links to their affiliate system. The machines actually screamed, no db on em, no real php to speak of since the links themselves only affected the nats machine. I lost them underestimating galleries needs, this is when I first started in hosting I wouldn't make that mistake again.

It isn't so much the price request that causes problems as it is the mentality that all hosting plans of X amount of bandwidth are the same. They simply aren't.

You could ask me for 100 Mbps and I could come back to you with 10 different ways of doing it and 10 totally different prices. It's like going to a real estate agent and saying "I want a house". Well... what kind of house? How many rooms? How many people? What's your budget? Is location important to you? Do you have children? Do you have a dog?

There are many, many questions that need to be answered before an accurate and RESPONSIBLE can be given. The various posts above by zagi illustrate some of those exact important questions that need to be answered.

Help us, help you. What are your EXACT needs? What are you trying to do?

I'll reply back shortly with some numbers after I look everything over.

they might not use much CPU however disk IO is a bitch when you have that many req/s. I wouldn't stick sata drives in a box doing 100+Mbps _or_ stick in some cache servers for images with squid + ram.

like others say. You have your basic concept of a package, its the bells/whistles and how it looks/functions/scalability that changes the end price.

You should really give a email or a method to contact so everyone can submit proposals. This isn't a simple x y z box here you go deal. Lots of different variables to be thought about.

This is a pretty straightforward solution to roll out. If your storage needs aren't more than a few hundred gigs per server I would recommend a Cisco load balanced cluster of Quad Cores with fast 15k RPM SAS drives in Raid 0's with your FTP/sync server having protected storage. A solution from MojoHost would mean that as your business grows and your needs grow for additional servers in the cluster that we won't be charging for additional servers, only the bandwidth. And we always price overage aggressively to encourage the further growth and success of our business. We would have to clarify a few more details but would be happy to provide premium performance with our fully managed solution at $7000/month.

I would want to discuss your business in more detail over the phone. If you are interested, give a call to my cell at 248-842-6900 anytime! (currently on vacation)

Cheers,

Brad
