I hate eBay!

I won a bunch of domain names on eBay but the seller refused to actually transfer them to me. I reported it to eBay but they said that there is nothing they can do. That it's up to the both parties to actually make sure to complete the transaction.

Then I submit a negative feedback to the seller and of course get one back. I report that again and even though I sent all the communication to eBay that proves that the negative comments are false - they refuse to deal with that either.

Is it just me or anybody else had a bad brush with eBay?

Ayla_SquareTurtle 09-17-2007 10:53 PM

ebay is sort of like the classified ads. If you bought a car out of the paper, and the seller screwed you over, you wouldn't get pissed at the paper would you?

that being said, ebay is, in some ways, more than a venue. I have been selling on ebay on and off for years and have run into just about every issue imaginable so I may be able to help you figure out how to get your money back. How did you pay?

dav3 09-17-2007 10:57 PM

I thought this was gonna be about a bad deal with an expensive watch.

Sorry to hear about that though, that really sucks. Is there something you can do about it with paypal?

SPACE GLIDER 09-17-2007 11:08 PM

That sucks! My sincerest sympathies

_mC_ 09-17-2007 11:11 PM

I agree, they need a better feedback system. You can sabotage someone pretty easily...

baycouples 09-17-2007 11:12 PM

Don't symphathize with me. Tell me if this is normal or not normal for eBay not to care if the sales on their site go through.

lazycash 09-17-2007 11:33 PM

Can you get his info via the domain whois and give him a phone call?

baycouples 09-18-2007 12:13 AM

What do you mean? the guy gave me the money back but I didn't want the money because I won it for a few bucks and the domain is worth way more.

I see.

Well, the bottom line is that eBay has no way of forcing someone to sell something on their own. You could technically take legal action against the seller since the auction format is considered a legally binding contract. Ebay, however, will not step in for you in that type of legal situation. All you can do is file a report with them.

You can read about their policies and get the complaint form to fill out at this link: http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/...rformance.html

You didn't make that clear in your initial post, it sounded like you paid for the domains and then he didn't transfer them. If no money was exchanged then I don't see the big deal.

peterk 09-18-2007 03:26 AM

I know ... ebay sucks sometimes

Scott McD 09-18-2007 07:13 AM

Yeah, ebay lately sucks ass. I used to use it all the time, now i'm hardly ever on it because of all the hassle i was getting...

JayDeeZee 09-18-2007 08:03 AM

I always think it looks shady when I'm outbid by someone who has no bidding history. Happend to me last night.

geeknik 09-18-2007 08:08 AM

Ebay does suck pretty hard. :)

The big deal is that I don't want the money back. I want the domains.

where you buy and sell shit

At least you got your money back rather than losing that to. I agree with you though, if they didn't want to sell the domains for less than they expected, then they should've put a reserve on them.
