Servage are even worse than Webairs virtuals. That should tell you something.

spooky181 09-09-2007 02:50 PM

We use www.splitinfinity.com for our dedicated server but I know their virtual servers are just as reliable...:thumbsup

You're not too smart, are you? You've never been killed by a tiger either, so going by your logic tigers are peaceful animals who like to cuddle with humans, right?

marcjacob 09-09-2007 03:06 PM

I gave up on virtuals for this reason after going through a few of them. Get yourself a dedicated starter server and kiss your downtime good bye!

Oracle Porn 09-09-2007 03:06 PM

webair dedicated is always up for me...a server is less then $100 why dont you get one?

Why do idiots always ask why people don't get a dedicated server, instead of realizing that NOT EVERYONE NEEDS ONE?!?

Sly 09-09-2007 03:19 PM

I have a news flash for you all: it's true, dedicated servers are a better route to go over a virtual account. But saying somebody deserves to be down because they go virtual instead of dedicated is the most asinine thing one could possibly say. Utterly ridiculous.

That's not news. At least not to anyone with half-a-brain.

directfiesta 09-09-2007 03:21 PM

hit me up on ICQ or by the email form ( http://www.pdghosting.com/adult/comp...tact/Itemid,3/ ) for a free 7 days trial.

PS: we treat all our clients as clients ... If we tought that " virtual account " clients were not worth it, we would NOT offer virtual accounts.
On the other hand, we do not offer gazillions gigs of space and BW, then say : what the fuck did you expect for 4.95 ????

nico-t 09-09-2007 03:21 PM

see sig.... i got dedicated at them... barely had any downtime with the year or so i think im hosting at them

Pornwolf 09-09-2007 03:24 PM

Why is it that whenever someone comes on here and says "Webair is down" my sites are still up?

I have dedicated boxes and a virtual plan at Webair that I've had for about 4 years now. Since the virtual plan is so old I would figure if anyone is having problems my virtual plan should as well. But no, it's usually not. Hmm...

There is no reason a virtual should go down more than a dedicated unless you are dealing with a company that oversells.

Actually, that's not necessarily accurate. When you're on a virtual you share the resources on the box with everyone else hosted there, so sometimes it can be enough for one of the clients to install a certain script and enable all bells and whistles on it, in order to cripple the server.

Why would you assume that Web Air has only one virtual server?

With hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of servers, it is very likely that Billy Bob could be having a problem with his sites while you have absolutely no problem on yours. It would affect you all if it was say... a network problem, or even a plethora of other possibilities.

I already have 2 dedicated servers I don't need more, I love virtual accounts for SOOOOO many reasons

once you get into working with se's and various other things you will understand why virtual accounts are great things

I would venture to guess that webair has at least 50-60 virtual servers

As we have 14 I would be willing to bet that is a conservative estimate.

KrisKross 09-09-2007 04:23 PM

/cue TurboAngel saying Webair is fantastic.

Donfoolio 09-09-2007 04:28 PM

I have 2 sites with em and they have been up no problem. maybe it is the machine you are on that has a problem?

PrivateIvy 09-09-2007 04:31 PM

I've actually been having problems since about 9PM EST last night.

I called them last night before bed and was told that they were doing server maintenance and it'd be ready to go in 15 minutes. My sites were working in the morning but the stats appear to show I didn't get back up until about 3 hours after I called.

Then the sites went down again about 15 minutes later and it's been nothing but problems all day since. I'll be down for about 15 minutes then down for an hour, rinse and repeat. I called again this afternoon and was told there was told there was a network problem and they could fix it in about 20 minutes. It appeared to be fixed, now I'm down once again. Never had problems this bad until this weekend.

And I agree, it's rather pointless to pay for a dedicated server when one doesn't need those kind of resources. I'm not one to be unreasonable, I know servers go down sometimes but this has been a really bad weekend, and some of us were already down once earlier this week.

Webair's own site is down now too.

Yep, exactly, next to my own server I got a legion of virtual accounts as well that cost me more than another server...

pr0 09-09-2007 04:41 PM

a dedicated box is $99 a month....with like 1-5mbps depending on where u go

what exactly is the point of a virtual?

do you share your internet with your neighbor....then get pissed when he cusses out a russian takes the neighborhood down?

this is a business, you need to treat it like one....& make the right investments

all virtual boxs are shit (at all companies), thats just the way it is........

Zuzana Designs 09-09-2007 04:42 PM

dedicated here and up as always :)

Why would someone spend $99/month when all they need is a $5/month virtual account?

find me a dedicated server for $100 that will give me (i am combining all my virtuals here) 10 completely different ip addresses and I will join right this very second, and not 10 ip's on 4 class c's, this is 10 completely different ip's

virtuals have a GREAT purpose in my workflow, every time I add a new virtual and put new sites on it my blog traffic increases at least 200% across my network

Jace 09-09-2007 04:46 PM

and for those that say virtuals suck on all hosts, not true either

there are some REALLY good hosts that provide rock solid virtual support and service, www.yellowfiber.net comes to mind right now, my sites are NEVER down, EVER and the support is insane from them

if you have non-mission critical data on a virtual account, thats fine....

just be prepared for some other 14yo with allowance $ using the server to piss someone off in an IRC chat room & take your business down with him

common fucking sense

the same reason I wouldn't car-pool.....the vehicles are fine, clean, neat & eco-friendly ......but once in awhile some ass hole shows up on his (turn to drive) drunk & takes us all into a bridge embankment
